100% cheese second act tactics. SPOILERS
You get used to playing the game your way, your loadouts and tactics, then they start restricting what you can and can't do, what weapons and buddies you can take, hell even give you a mission where you drop with nothing but the cloths on your back. Cheesy way to up the difficulty.

Takes away from a great game by taking the free-form open world and adding stupid restrictions.

That's why they're optional. Personally, I like the added idea of having to think where I can actually get weapons for the job I'm supposed to do. Try doing this with other missions, it's quite a nice experience.

i thought they were really easy and beat most of them faster than the normal versions....

Bothered about being challenged for once?

some of the best missions are total stealth and subsistence, for the latter figuring out how to accomplish your tasks with nothing at start it's fun and rewarding. I don't understand the whining, especially as there is tons of missions where you are free to take anything. These are not cheesy tactics at all it's just another way to play the game. People these days.

Agreed.

They don't even offer a logical reason for the harder missions.

IE: Subsistence. Weapons and equipment OSP. Why?

In the first 3 games, it was because you were trying to sneak into a base and your insertion method required you to go in light.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the mission, but at least give me a good reason why BB would be stripped of his weapons...

Also note worthy is how, instead of making the AI smarter, they just started making them spawn near your drop points so it was harder to sneak by.

And since when do you see soldiers in riot gear? Helmets: yes. Body armor: yes. Riot shields? Not so much. But thanks Call of Duty, you've officially tainted the future of video game warfare.

And bullet proof face shields? Really? In the '80's? We don't even have that NOW.

I did notice, however, that the enemy started deploying sniper teams and mortars around their outposts, in response to my own tactics, which is more along the lines of improved enemy tactics.

Realistically, the enemy should have upped reinforcement levels, doubled the staff at outposts that were attacked or improved their comm network. (ie: have a back up or move the system to a bunker).

Instead, apparently, the Russians/Africans countered guerrilla warfare with heavy armor for all.

the enemies dont actually respond to your tactics specifically they just get stronger over time and upgrade, even if you didnt kill anyone there would be snipers and the heavy soldiers.

there is no reason behind it

Same reason why you can spend infinite time just messing around in the sandbox without missing anything crucial to the plot.

Because it's fun.

Is this the first video game you people have played?

I didn't ask a question to get your response. I know why they did it, but it's a change from the previous titles where everything was OVER explained. When you make a video game and develop a fan base for (at least) 4 titles straight and then change the foundation of the game (the focus on story over game play) people notice.

So, I respond to your question with a question of my own: Is this the first MGS you've played?

No way I love this mode, I wish the whole game was this way.

I think some people get bored w the game is the weapons loadout is OP from the start, just sneaking by 2 guards when you have NOTHING not even a magazine to throw is the intense and immersive stealth action i crave.

Nope, the extra difficult missions are totally optional.

Theyre not restricting you from anything. They're completely optional and a way to challenge yourself. It isn't supposed to make sense. It's just supposed to make things harder for no reason like a lot of things in many video games.
