What's the difference between the .308 and .223?
They "seem" to have the same stats during customization, similar to the 5.56 vs. 7.62.

Unless someone start rambling about "how real bullet works", there is no difference in TPP other than damage output of guns.

7.62=.308 and 5.56=.223

The only difference is in penetration. The larger the caliber, the more damage it cause to enemies wearing riot suits.
Other than that i don't see any other benefit.

Well, I'm trying to pick between the SVG 76 and 67, the main difference being their 5.56 vs. 7.62 load, However, both can load either .308 and .223 as well.

Both snipers almost make no difference if you want to take out helmet wearing soldiers. You will not be able to penetrate their helmet with those ammo, and you certainly limited in your fire rating because both of them are sniper.
However, you can use anti materriel sniper like brennan or serval to one-hit-kill everyone, since this kind of weapon will penetrate armor and helmet with ease.

In this game, technically there's 5.56, .223, .308, and 7.62. The 7.62 strangely enough is likely 7.62x39 and 7.62x52. So why all that matters ingame- 5.56 goes in the 5.56/.223 guns and has less penetration but about the same damage along with large ammo pools and mags. 7.62 goes in the 7.62/.308 guns and has lower penetration but about the same damage along with large ammo pools and mags. Penetration is very, very important against armored enemies.

If you're running a sniper, there's not much point in running 7.62 or 5.56, they have loads of recoil and slow ROF with horrid follow-up accuracy. Often all you're doing with 7.62 or 5.56 is cheating yourself out of penetration that could be making your sniper merc. Now, for your primary .223/.308 could be a neat alternative in a heavy frame gun- you'll get high penetration, low recoil, good follow-up accuracy, but .223/.308 are very hard to find compared to 7.62 or 5.56. If this is a loud combo, an underslung shotgun might be a good idea if you're going to use the sniper rounds in the caliber.

Ya, I was trying to customize a decent "hip" sniper so I can have a shield/hmg or launcher.

Right now I'm experimenting with heavy barrel snipers, as a sort of "defy all logic" build (300 bullets!)

Yeah~! The Bambetov SV with the 7.62 Drum barrel is absolutely devastating, and oddly quiet even without the suppresor - seems to have a smaller sound range than its effective range.

I actually run a Bambetov-R barrel SVG-67 with .308s and a DGL or I have a couple SVG-67Us with 7.62- one with Fakel and one with Drum and foregrip. I really like the NLs though as snipers and have a Brennan build too though I do a lot of precision shots with my hip primary. For a high-cap sniper, I think the hip slot's really where it's at due to how tame the ARC and SVG-67 are.

I mainly use gas/smoke on heavies and either CQC them smoked or deal with them asleep from gas. I pretty well agree with V47- .308 and .223 don't really make enough of a difference to kill your ammo pool. 7.62 has the largest ammo pool I think- though I don't run the 9mm G44 much. The .50s are beasts without compare. Not exactly all-around, but beasts.

I somewhat wonder if I need to play with the Bambetov/MRS-71 again. When I tried them with drums (or the 7.62 mags at all) they were awful even with foregrips.

What weapons are .50 enabled?

.50 is just the Brennan and Serval.

Oh, ok - they're labeled as 12.7 for me
Bugjuice Oct 21, 2015 @ 8:44pm
It bother me that the .50 aren't consistently penetrating shields, I have never shot a gun before in my life, but I were expecting that guns like Brennan will shoot through shield and kill the carrier.

And this should also applied to the walker, you should be able to one-shot through the face plate and hit the guy behind it. :p

As a side note: Rangefinder scopes do not calculate drop for sniper rounds... cuz that would be overpowered.
Blind Oct 21, 2015 @ 8:58pm
Here's one about the LMGs... they all get 200 rounds, but there's three different "mag" types
