If you think the helicopter is taking too long to arrive to the LZ, you need to upgrade its chasis; the highest grade of chasis allows the helicopter to take no more than 10-15 seconds to get to the LZ.
If you want to travel from one end of the same map that you are currently on faster, you either need to use a vehicle, D-Horse, or use the delivery box fast travel system.
I find the jeeps horrible. They pretty much can't manage going off road, which means you're stuck going through guard posts. They steer terribly at speeds not much faster than running.
Then use D-Walker to move around. It's the most versatile of all buddies depending on the loadout you give him. Probably the same speed as a jeep and much better maneuverability.
