Claire's Face
Right off the bat, 2 minutes into the intro cutscene, and I can't help but wonder what they did to Claire. Aside from the ponytail, she just looks nothing like any of her previous incarnations, right down to the very bone structure. It's a minor thing, for sure, but right away it makes a bad impressions coming right after the hilariously bad even for Capcom VO for the TerraSave comercial.

At least once your in the game engine proper she looks less like a designer took a shovel to her face to I guess make her look older?

Yeah as soon as I saw her face I winced. Then I heard her voice and became even more disappointed. At least with RE5 Jill was still hot even though it was an older Jill than before. Claire looks like she decayed over the years

It's even weirder that they changed her VO, as prior to this she was the only Resident Evil character to be voiced by the same person (Alyson Court) across every game and CG movie they were in.

She aged. She's past 30 at this point. The last time you saw her was Degeneration where she was mid 20s.

lol, nice pics. kind of looks like him.
the voice is different but then again, i also have to think about jill in rev 1 that she also looked diffrently and her voice sounded different as well. maybe the rev games are so different that capcom wants different looks and voices for female protagonists??

Lol, ok I gotta give it to you for that one. I was gonna go "not everyone is a supermodel" approach but this made me laugh.

Awful character design somehow they made her worse.

Well you pretty much missed the point entirely there, and then deflected it to a non-issue. Perhaps I was not literal enough with my offhand shovel comment, so I should claire-ify that it literally looks like their idea of aging was flattening out her face, leaving her looking nothing at all like she did in every previous incarnation. Whether she's "attractive" is niether here nor there, rather I was pointing out that she did not look consistent with the existing design of her character.

While I can only ponder at whether her design was changed to appeal to those acronym types, in the end, like most of what Capcom attempts these days the execution doesn't seem very good. As a counterpoint, Barry does look a little closer to his original design, though he should actually have a bit more grey if we're going to be serious about the whole passage of time thing.

And again, utimately it's irrelevant because the lower quality in game models (vs the prerendered ones) are less noticeably different and those are the ones you're going to see the most of.

Now I've written too many words about some digital woman's changing face, in order to reply to someone's attempt at humorous snark. Oh dear.

Claire looks fine, yet no one mentions barry and how he looks like an old asian. And i'm not talking just about how he's aged, he looks nothing like the old barry

To be completely frank, CAPCOM seems to not actually give a toss about consistency or integrity when it comes to the RE franchise, or at least when it comes to their copious amounts of sequels and spin-offs and tie-in games that are supposedly working off the same "story" in the same "universe". However, everything they've done since, basically, RE Umbrela Chronicles has been pretty much tripe so RER2 is just par for the course.

Claire's model looks almost nothing like her original and while I'm ecstatic that she doesn't look like a 20-something supermodel I'm rather disappointed that she's supposedly pushing mid-30s and seems to have had enough plastic surgery to rival Joan Rivers. I don't think they even attemtped to realistically age Claire in so much as they just stretched her face out, changed her nose, pushed her chin a bit, then slapped a ponytail on her head and called it a day.

There's no doubt that this character is just as pretty but the fact remains: this isn't the Claire Redfield we've come to know and love and the fact that even her VA is different signifies that CAPCOM didn't actually care about consistency, they just wanted another cash cow.

The game's a brick to boot.

Game works fine for me, but to your original point I'm not sure if you or the tons of others who didn't see this coming refuse to do their research before their purchase or just ignorant. Capcom told us it was a "low budget" title, this was their escuse to put little to no effort into the game reusing assets from 4 older titles and throwing it at us as content.

I called it before this was a cash grab fundraiser for RE7 and I'd be suprised it got continued support after E3 if even. (3 months)

Well, this only matters to those people who played the previous game a long time ago. I have played RE since 5, so this does not bother me. Still, how Capcom has been treating RE franchise is kind of sad.
Sometimes it looks awful and inconsistent, but mostly I find her super-hot this way and I love the way her nose and ears look. She looks way more like her brother this way without it being uncanny. I'm hoping a more proper installment will fix it -- along with Jill's face (and body) so long as it sticks to RE5's muscular and healthy look and not Julia Voth's dull modelface/body. The evolution of her appearance to RE5 is fantastic as is Claire's aging. My main issues with Claire's appearance is inconsistency, particularly with eyes that look embarrassingly anime-stye at times. I don't expect a lot because this game was obviously scrapped from something else and rushed together, but overall I vastly prefer her appearance like this. Super in love with her hair being kind of confirmed as a proper red (love the choice) and I'm hella in love with her jacket and annoyed that e-Capcom released a hoodie (albeit a cute coat hoodie) and not that one. I would drop too much money on that in a heartbeat.

That being said, the voice actor is superior to Court and fits the character better. I'm so glad for both these changes tbh.

But yeah lbr here, don't expect much. Natalia is the best looking character and I suspect she was leftovers from whatever the original project might have been. Her freckles are cute. :(
