I have not tried, but only replacing the save file should have no issue.
So, if you have a profile you saved for yourself, you can use that, yes.
Although if you played through family share on your own PC, you just need to buy the game and your profile will be there by default.
Recent re-installation of steam wiped my save. Lost all 15 Lv100 characters, 10+Lv100 guns, many high lv parts (and Lv10 soul stealer). Saves maybe gone, but player's skill lingers X-D.
I will just move on to other games.
Games will naturally reach a conclusion and end, like a good story, good journey.
Avoid games that is all about stats and loot grinds, sadly almost all triple A games are about those.
