MK1: saves grinding, adds all offers of the station to the trading computer when you fly close to it[roguey.co.uk]
allows an increased number of planned trips[roguey.co.uk]
allows an even larger number of planned trips[roguey.co.uk].
The Mk1 allowed you to see prices at the station when you approched a trade dock (rather than finding all of them) it's sort of the first step before establishing trade agents. You whould need to re scan stations to get an update on their current situation from time to time.
Mk 1 is worth it depending on how you aquire your trade agents) unless you have 20M early on for the Mk2 and 100M for Mk3
