Players can't read and hear these days? ... Its a charger to your flashlight. If the battery dies, you need to charge it up.

a cursery glance at the mouse/keyboard controls...."F key...charge flashlight" among others.

it was in the tutorial at the start of the game it mentiones to use it to charge your flashlight....
