yeah its more funny without cheats.... but i cant breath in D6 :D .... and i cant find any filters :D so what you think?? i need to start again? :D
GameFAQs list infinite ammo and godmode on the original issue, but not in the Redux issue even though the file exists also in the Redux one. It does have configs named g_god and g_unlimitedammo, but they seem not to do anything...
So, the big question, "to cheat or not to cheat"
I'm new to the game, every game I go into new I find the cheat codes and I play them, why? to get the feel of the game to learn the game mechanics, commands, controls etc. it's my training run if you like.
Now, here I come into M2033 Redux. User.cfg changes do nothing so all I do is keep getting to the above ground with those pesky dogs and get eaten, so I go back and start again. Over, and over, and over... the one thing I want to do more than anything at this point is kill Miller, he annoys me so bad.
Can't even do that.
I've spent my money, bought the game and I can't get anywhere into it to even begin appreciating what it is without cheats - my question then, what do I do with it, uninstall it? Forget about the whole franchise? Get my money back?
Cheers,
T

"Simply set all settings to default, using ingame option, in the main options menu.
That creates the correct files, and then your settings will stick, whether in game, or direct text edits.

copy/past this in user.cfg in TWO places one is in appdata/local/4agames. the other is in steam/userdata/...there should be a numbered folder and in that folder a bunch of other numbered subfolders. you need to search each one until you see "user.cfg". you will have to do this every time you launch the game as it gets reset for some reason.

so... you bought a game and feel like you can't play it because you can't cheat. My advise here would be to play it clean for once
I think you are doing it backwards. Playing this game with cheats means you can finish it in one sitting. Be advised that both games are very short.
I'm not saying you shouldn't cheat. I'm saying you should play it completely clean first and then play a second time with cheats. I frequently do that with story based games that I end up not being able to play too frequently. Playing a second time makes us realise things we otherwise wouldn't (just like watching a film more than once)
And on a side note, thanks for sharing that hack! I'll try it when I get the chance to.
Thanks for the advice, it's not that I feel I can't play it without cheating but when you can't even check the game out because the dogs eat yo a** first time every time then what's the point in going round-and-round-and-round with it?
Thing is, like I said, the first time run through, with cheats, is my training in the game. I mean let's face it, the tutorial exercises they attach to these games are pure bullpucky, they don't mean anything, just show you what buttons to push.
Thing is, with Metro 2033 Redux, I kinda feel like somebody cheated me out of my money... but, maybe, I'm wrong - I just can't find out.
Also, you're welcome to the hack... haven't tried it yet, I'm Star-Trekkin' away with Mass Effect at the moment.
Cheers,
T
Sometimes, a different gun can solve the problem. Nosalies, if I remember well, die with 2 shotgun shots, so you could either get the Duplet for fast reload and being able to shoot two at once or the Shambler, which gives you 6 rounds that you can shoot quickly, but the reload is slow.
Overtime, I found myself using a Shambler much more frequently against mutants and a silenced Revolver when I wanted to be stealth. Headshots work well and the silenced revolver is perfect for that if you are not in range for the throwing knife.
In case you are using the Bastard, you need to do short bursts because the bullet spread is crazy.
My setup over most of the game was:
- Shambler with barrel extension, red dot, laser
- Revolver with everything possible (suppressor)
- Any assault rifle (not Bastard), could be suppressed, but with the best scope for long shots
Take a look into the gun tactics in this website: https://metrovideogame.fandom.com/
It will certainly help you pass through these difficult parts of the game.
Copy that Darth, will give it a go, thanks.
