F1 2015
Tire Wear?
Anybody else having weird issues with their tires? mine seem to last only for 6 laps. After I cross the start finish straight on any circuit on my 6th lap on the current tires they puncture? Is it a bug or is that the actual tire wear script. JUST TO NOTE that the AI will go on their tires sometimes 9 or 10 laps before they pit.

I play with Logitech G19 keyboard on easy difficulty the championship season with Ferrari and have all help-systems but brake-assistant active (this one is simply annoying in my opionion).

I tried several times the Australien GP with 25% race-time and with full damage active (which is necessary for all but the tires in my opinion) but it's simply impossible to finish the race not at last and that's only because of the tires!

In 3 of 3 races I always get a flat on front left tire at end of the 3rd lap. Then I switch from option to prime and get the next flat on front left in lap 7. Next prime tires and again flat front left in lap 11. Finally I can finish with 2 red front tires the race the 15th lap without an additional flat. What the hell is wrong with these tires this year?!

I never brake hard, so I'm sure that I don't destroy my tires by braking, but simply steering with keyboard on high speed seems to do the problem, because very short tipping the arrow keys already steer the tires to maximum and thus small corrections on high speed results in squeak and probably damaging the tires.
So either this should be fixed or an additional option to have less tire wearout on full damage should be added in my opionion.
Are the tyre wear problems mostly coming from those using gamepads or keyboards(why anyone would play a driving game on a keyboard is beyond me)?

So far I've only tried the game on my gamepad and tyre wear seems to be an issue but when I hook up my wheel I should be able to drive a lot smoother.
I have spent the last 24 hours testing this and I know what my issue was.

First of all am using G27 set up just fine.

The key is my driving style was overheating the tyres so what you need to do is have the info screen NOT on damage but on temperture then as you go through corners (China is a great track for this) have a look at when your tyre tempreture foes red. Then tweak the style so unless you are near the end of your stint keep the temps amber e.g. 8 lap stint spend 4 laps or so really looking after the tempreture and then you will get to the end of the race without puncturing.

Whether this makes it a better or worse game probably is up for debate but it is not broken from this standpoint.
Noticed this today in regards to tire wear. I restarted a session after going for about 7 laps and my tired puncturing one lap after my recommended pit in. On the restart the recommended (and as I couldn't change it only race strategy) was now for a 3 stop race (previously 2, 50% distance)
The tires were already worn now to start the race and now only lasted 3 laps till a puncture.

It seems that tire wear sometime doesn't reset on a race restart
Had a 100% race in Melbourne - managed to stay 6 laps after the pit window on softs just with careful driving. Never had a puncture.

It all comes down to tyre management. Staying on track, keeping tyre temps in comfortable zone (which means actually listening to your engineer), and instead of chasing the AI, pitting when your tyres are about to go. AI might stay on track, but they'll lose time to the driver on a fresh compound.

Yup, really enjoy the tire management, better than in the old games. I raced some people in 2014 which could stay out on soft tires forever, doesn't work so great anymore in this game.

Especially with lower grip across the board, aggressive drivers' tyres are dying so much quicker! Which gives me a chance with slow-ish but smooth driving :D
yes i agree it all comes down to how you race. i was getting flat tires as well. until i noticed how i was over driving my tires its all about managment. i also play with a xbox360 controller as my steering wheel is ♥♥♥♥ tastic. need to get myself a g27 one day soon.
different setups and driving style influence the tyre wear massively. I tried it and had problems too at the beginning. but i can handle it now. don't worry.

setups:
you can try to the reduce the pressure of the front axe if the track has strong use of the front tyres e.g. higher the camber of wheels a bit. change the emphasis a bit (lowering for melbourne e.g.).

driving style:
don't brake and accelerate at the same time. and don't break hard while steering into the corner. don't let the tyres burnout while steering in corners. to recognize that you do it set "ABS" off at the assist-options. now you can get a feeling when you burnout. dose your gas pedal and the brakes. use mixture 1 for the first stint to reduce graining.

qualifying:
if you play short qualifying you start with the tyres with which you made your best time. it's better to drive just one fast round.
full qualifying:
you start with the tyres from Q2.

i hope i could help a bit.

To clarify, on gamepad and keyboard it is nearly impossible to finish races, on wheel (which is the way you should play this game) you need to take care of your tires. I realized that my driving style was very agressive because on 2013 tires were scripted
i also play with a gamepad (X360) and it's possible^^. even in f1 2013 you could influence the wear too. i played all games.

I'm on a pad and Can finish races, although I fare better in the wet than the dry when it comes to tyre longevity and I have a LOT of work to do.

I seem to be taking good lines and although my setups need work, I find myself allowing frustration to get th ebetter of me and ruining my tyres by being far too aggressive. I'm also bad at compensating for the lack of grip when following another car. It seems ot be important to judge when you have the legs to actually beat the car in front rather than steam up to the back of it only for your tyres to wear and the gap to reopen.

All in all, I am loving the new game. I have to think much more when driving and my poor driving is punished meaningfully.
You should remenber one thing, On the actual real F1, the driver can't keep a high pace, or else the tyre overheat and wear too fast.

If the tyres simulation is correct that should do the same.

Put the blame on Pirelli for their crappy Tyres and not Codemaster ^^
I just tried a 50% melbourne race, driving carefully, attempting a 1-stop strategy, I dropped from 1st to 3rd in the last lap, both mercedes catched me. They would've catched me earlier if they weren't so stupid, but I would've finished 3rd anyway. Not sure if a 2-stop would've granted me better results, since I already was way behind the mercs.

So it's very possible to be careful and look after your tires. You're driving too reckless, m8.

You were right. I'm used to be very aggressive on the corners but this game introduce realistic physics which force you to manage the tyres. Now it can be really call a simulator. I stopped attacking the corners and could managed the tyres over the race.
