thanks guys ... I thought it was a common problem ... incredible. however I use the Oculus Rift .... what a pity really. I noticed this problem after the update
Theyre fixing it but its up to epic and oculus to work it out. No ETA yet afaik

Lets hope they get it sorted because playing without shadows ruins the experience in VR

EDIT:Just realised shadows work perfectly fine in Steam VR mode, happy days :)

In topic SHADOW PROBLEM
I had the exact same problem in VR(I created a thread about it some months ago but didnt get much of a response to it) before the update so it possibly not the update fault.
I haven't tried the game since the update so maybe now i have shadows, here's hoping.

In topic How's VR doing guys??
Performance is very good for me in VR and after 2-3 years of owning this game i'm finally playing it and loving it.

VR has few genuine 'proper' games and many casual 'experiences'.
I'm glad to say this is a proper meaty game and its ideal for VR.

I understand the idea behind the virual hotas(make everything in the game interactive through the virtual hands)but it's just such a pain to use.The Oculus analogue sticks are much more capable and hopefully an option to use then will be added in an update.

In topic Rewinds?
A rewind feature in any racing game is a fast track driving incompetence.
And when someone who is used to that lack of jeopardy decides to go mp racing then you get the cluster♥♥♥♥ that is Forza online.

In topic No shadows in VR
When i play in VR the shadows keep disappearing.Basically they're not there,if i move my head they can sometimes reappear for a split second.

Is this a known problem or am i doing something wrong?
I did notice in a video from GAMERMUSCLE he seemed to have the same issue(unless he had shadows off in his settings)

Does this still support VR?
I remember playing this on Oculus DK2 but if i recall support was dropped for CV1.
Is this still the case?

Running on a ssd

What resolution?
ps - SSD is redundant for FPS issues.

But wouldn't an SSD be relevant to the textures barely loading in?

That's the scary thing,90fps is supposed to be the recommended minimum for VR!
This was the case when Vive and Ouculs Rift launched 3 YEARS AGO yet the latest greatest GFX card can only manage 90fps with engine.ini tweaks.

I feel a tad sad that i wont be able to play in VR for another 2 years minimum.

I highly doubt your 1080ti is that far off.

What is your processor? And the load it's under while ingame? And there is a new graphics driver for today.

Well done, all of you lying to exaggerate a point of view.

I've bought this because i want a realistic, full championship season, single player racing sim and easy to beat ai will kill the experience.

I think you are fishing in too deep waters here. The AI will be fine for 95% of the playerbase. They need to be made faster so that they match the top 2-5% of the playerbase on maximum skill level.

And I seriously doubt you are just going to hop into a simulation outdriving them on all tracks.
Especially since you seem to be used to single player racing games, where noone around you is actually fast, since its all just AI cars - using rubberbanding and cheats in most titles to not lapped by the player all the time.

In comparison to other racing games the AI is quite nice. Its just having trouble with very tight corners and chicanes.

Actually i race MP(iRacing) more than SP but i fancy playing a good single player racer too. There's very few worth playing that also have a full championship season.
I'm not a fan of the Forza/GT 'winning cars' method of singleplayer and also prefer more realistic sims than those.
F1 2018 has the full championship season but iit doesn't support VR(essential for me)and again,it's not particularly realistic.

And you're right i wont be hopping into ACC and thrashing the AI at first,if at all.
It will take me some time to get to grips with the game(especially since I've only been testing performance with a gamepad)but i'm a little concerned I'll surpass the AI's max level before too long,
Although I don't put as many man hours into sim racing as some do(this could change once i finally get my new sim rig finished) I have been playing racing sims since F1 Grand Prix and i would expect to attain top 2-5% speeds without too much hassle.

On the subject of F1 Grand Prix, anyone remember if it too had slow AI?

I agree.
I like the game and if Kunos can sort the performance issues and a few other things out,it could be great.
But its in no way a month or so away from full release.

This game is not for VR drivers, at this moment. You need a 2500 $ MINIMUM PC, if you get a vive. (duno about the rift)
And 3'500 $ +++ if you get a pimax 5K+. this is just ridiculous. (A 1000 $ PC can run Pcars2 in VR).

Hahaha,i was going to agree and say "there's always one guy who claims it runs perfectly on his GTX1080" but.....

Runs fine on my 1070. Just turn off AA and turn up VR Pixel density to make it look better.

GTX 1070!
Utter nonsense that it runs smooth on a GTX 1070.
Its probably running 35-45 fps and he doesnt even realise it.

Heck, some dullards even claim Assetto Corsa looks better!
I'd say ACC has very impressive graphics. The repsresentation of night time racing is far superior to Project Cars and iRacings efforts(it actually looks like night time,as in,it's actually dark!!!),.The headlights and LED car numbers are gorgeous and also the rain effects exceed every other racing game ,perhaps barring Driveclub.

That said, performance is a big issue. No point having great visuals if nobody has the PC to show them(smoothly) in all their glory :(
Hoping things will improve as this is still early access.

The game is simply not sharp , yes it have a high textures and everything on them looks fine , but everything arround the high textures simply suck's , it not antialiased enoufght even all those SPECIAL option you never seen in another game , game loocks blury even without blur ON. idk... Im simply not happy with the graphic engine , some racing games ( no metter now sim or arcade ) looks better than ACC and they run on aolder engines but still deliver a nice screen and cristal clean sharp tracks for your to race on... Nothing blinks , no black lines on antialising , no blur when turning trought corners , cristal clean ..

Graphic: i hope they get that shorted out

So your not impressed with the night time graphics and the rain?

In topic weird ghosting effect behind my car?
I only see it in replay,no big deal and i never race in chase view.
The same ghosting could be seen in the Forza games, the last time i played them.
