Wormhole counts as killing enemies
Once space element is unlocked and wormhole is acquired you can use it to obtain events based on killing X enemies in a zone. This is particularly useful to unlock the holy element in Plains of Peace if you have trouble killing the enemies.

Another note for Plains of Peace is that the Mana Shell enemy only does ground based spells and almost no physical damage, so use soar for free kills occasionally to get divine crystals for the transmutes.

Note that the mana shell has extremely high defense, so you need to be able to reliably land critical hits to take it down, and it does use a basic attack.

Honestly, I found the nine-tail fox the easiest the first time I got there, as I had a high-defense build and would commonly carry the snake staff (which boosts mind, and thus eagle eye) while transmuting and grinding, so I would get plinked for 1 damage by the enemy and hit it reliably, making me wonder why that enemy was so pathetically weak it could do no damage and just died without having any defenses... When I came back for the primary challenge, it was a much harder enemy that I needed the mask of the sly in my equipment to ever hit.

Each of the enemies in that area are designed to counter specific builds, so you're likely to find at least one that really stomps all over your build the first time you get there.
