Death Pilgrimage Boss
Before you kneejerk, yes I am running the anti curse ritual. I'm running the anti crit ritual too though I don't know if he can. I'm basically asking the power threshold because my dodge build with ethereal chest and boots, shadow cape and synchro can't do it but justs blasts me through my armor build and my potions get sucked down in no time.

dependnig on how many pilgrimages you ahve already done those bosses get harder, on later ones you need highly upgraded gear to even stand a chance, which, unfortunately means the etherial gear will fall out of favor for a high level synergzer, High level Master Ninja Gear, high level Divine Stiletto and high level Shadow Cape, even then the boss has a move Wide... something I can't recall that last part, it has a big wind up, that move ignores evasion and defense and deal a metric ton of damage, so if you die out of nowhere thats likey why. you could try to stun rune your way through it, but I don't give any guarantees on how effective that is.

I thought only bosses for repeated pilgrimages increase in strength. Wow, I checked and it actually has almost double hp compared to its entry in Compendium so you must be right.

I beat him in my current run but had a lot of trouble doing this. I hate dodge build as it is very unreliable (some spells ignore dodge and it is hard to keep track which ones) so I tried to push through with defense. Vampiric Staff +5, Vampiric Protector +5, Alchemist's Cowl +5, Synergizer +4, two fairy Elixirs +3, clever pumpkin, universal potion, greater potion of toughness +1, greater potion of muscle +2, potion of vitality +10, greater toxic concoction +6. Blood attack spellcrafted with Death jewels on permacast. Forgot to setup synchro to better utilize poison and death spells but somehow made it anyway. Level 67+ familiar (was leveling it to 70 for another story). Level 62 death element. It had 195k hp in my battle instead of 100k which it should have according to Compendium, so you may have it worse or easier.

He was one of the last ones for me as well, and it felt like I might have hit a wall but I pushed my armor and attack and it became manageable.

the two worst ones to have late is decidedly Death and Holy, especially Holy as it becomes an ungodly tank with multiple instakill spells. Also if you don't like Dodge builds but still want something stupidly powerful check a thread IO made about the strongest armor in the game, which you should be able to access if you can reach level 60+ in studies.

It works based on buffs that aren't available in the pilgrimage zones.

It would work for one buff for the Fire (Strength) Earth (Stoneskin) and Water (Longevity), Pilgrimages, but indeed it's bad for specifically pilgrimages. outside of that though it's stuidly strong.

You seem to have forgotten that this is a thread specifically about the death pilgrimage boss.

When you say Shadow Cape, is that the same thing as Cloak of Darkness? Or is there another dodge-granting accessory? If so, how do you unlock it?

he could be killed via dodge build or with blood+ and with death wand equipped (lv72. also you could use illusion body, that also powers up attack spells). imho, dodge is the easiest way

My Reaper of Skulls has 259k hp, because I'm doing it 11th.
I am the big sad rn. Cosmic Deity (space) 10th wasn't fun either: I had to get a high level astral crystal to tank the damage for me and hope it spammed enough Novas before I ran out of stunning runes. My own damage couldn't compare to a Nova, nor could any other (more reliable) familiar, so I was at the whims of rng.

I think it's a shame that Reaper is immune to Soul Collapse. For a boss in a zone where you can only use Death magic, why can't you use the most thematic Death spell?
Zeustiak Jul 16, 2024 @ 8:37am
Death was my 8th element when I beat this. Took me 2-3 tries with this setup:
Death lvl 59
Vampiric Scythe +4
Armor of Death +9
Mythril Shield +6
Choker of Soul Protection
6 Fairy Elixirs +1-2
Universal Potion +5
Potion of Evasion + 9
Level 40 Earth Boost (Defense)
Level 40 Fire Boost (Attack)
Anti-Crit Ritual
Anti Curse Ritual
Level 60 Goblin Doctor
Only enhancements prior to Zeth Fortress

Something I've found that would make a few of those builds a little easier is that you can actually cast spells (manually, not perma-cast) before going into the boss fight. (Be sure to cast major time dialation before casting your list of manual spells and levitate first so you can get through "preparing for the boss" part fast.) If you're using the spiked armor trick, so long as all your spells are still active, the trick still works.

Have at least two equipment sets: one "before battle", and one "during battle."

Before battle: Wand of water/fire, expert's pajamas, synergizer, and alchemist's cowl. Exit the dungeon, manually cast Strength+, Stoneskin+, Longevity+, and maybe other things like Cloak of Flames and Imbue Flames (have the fire wand for that one). Enter the pilgrimmage dungeon, and immediately hit "fight boss." Wait for battle to start before hitting the tab to change to "during battle."

During battle: Electric katana/divine rapier/divine rippers, ninja master gear, synergizer, boots of speed. Use super-speed (and the lingering buffs) to stab them in the face for a million damage per second before they get any big spells off.

At high levels (talking 72+) I'm really liking Health regen builds.
Doesn't help for many pilgrimages except water, but if you max out your health with longevity spellcrafting, hitting level 80 and boosting health with the lamp, wear the tunic of extravagant health with a synergizer and ring of regeneration and you'll have 40k max health and well over 500 health per second of regeneration. That's better than spamming the heal spells for the record. This is how I'm beating Satell in my challenge runs.
