I just use gloves of spell fluency all the time (I probably had it up to +4 or +5) and all my spells on perma-cast and I didn't even notice the debuff. I thought he was the easiest of the ethereal bosses. (It helps that I was wind primary and my familiar could dodge tank all his attacks, so between having almost none of my attacks turned off and not taking damage, I stomped him the first time I saw him and never thought much of it...)
Five big health pots, defense pot, regen pot, all at +5-+7
Spammed the two healing spells i could use and everything else i could on autocast.
Beat Djinn with health pots to spare.
Lighting Katana +2
Electric Armour +2
Gloves of Fluency +4
Notable potion was a high level vitality potion for 100% increase in battle regen
Had Lightning and Wind as Primary, reached lvl 50 on Lighting for damage but not air.
Did less cost on Lightning Bolt
More damage on Spark
Shorter cooldown on Paralysis
Boosts on Earth (15) and Electric (10)
Used the Scarab familiar also lvl 50 with all the familiar buffs on
Had all possible buffs on myself also ofcourse
During battle i just spammed attacks i didnt have on autocast like frost, fireball etc. And when my pet in front got to 70% i switched places and switched back once he was higher.
That got him second try on the first run i unlocked the quest.
Didnt bother changing the Synchro but that weould have made it easier .
