The reactor capacity system is an awful concept. I understand that gun staircases and huge "do everything" techs were problems in the original game, but this was absolutely not the way to fix that.
What it's done for me is that I can hardly make anything other than a skeletal mesh of efficiency parts now. I can't put more than a few guns on it, I can't grow it much bigger than my starter tech, and it still looks ugly as sin, even compared to the terrible GSO boxes I built when I first started playing TerraTech.
The art style has lost all of its charm, the music is dull and sparse, and not much feels more advanced than the original game. Worlds seems to focus a lot more on crafting - which, for me, makes it a whole lot more boring, given that I never had to touch crafting once in TerraTech.
There are things that could be fixed and expanded on, but these are part of the game's fundamental design direction. I've been playing games long enough to know that stuff like this doesn't go away.
I'd like somebody to confirm this, if possible.
If this is an always-online game, I'm dropping it like a sack of soiled kitty litter. Even if they suddenly fixed everything for release, I'm not going to support anything with a hard internet requirement.
Honestly I have no idea why they put out a demo so early. Right now this plays like a pre-alpha test. Your complaints are valid, but there's so much that appears to be a work in progress that I suspect most will get addressed before release.
I'm going to be watching it with a very skeptical eye from now on.
That simply doesn't work for Terratech because your are constantly changing your character. Having to build ramps to access your crafting stations and annoyingly drive you tech within range, is not good design and it's not enjoyable to play.
If they are desperate to go down this route of base building and more crafting then I really think that they need to seriously consider adding a pilot (you) to the game.
That way you are a set size and can jump out of whatever size tech you are currently piloting and easily enter your base and craft.
The controls are horrible compared to OTT and those were bad for anything except rovers. In TTW I can only imagine how hard it will be to fly or hover. Then to make it worse your limited on guns so need to face your targets AND manually aim. Combat is going to be annoying far as I can tell.
Resources are going to be issue as well. As they limited and spread out. AND to make worse to build anything takes a lot.Base will be a struggle to move at all once build up. So means will have a stationary perm base. And to get resources will need to travel long times to reach anything. Which means larger vehicle to make trip worth it.. requiring more resources dumped into just that. "The rock chunks for example. As collecting on site loses majority of the resource".
I did like the water part. Makes me think of building amphibian ships :-) But unless have some new tech coming its a pain to move in water. Let alone deep water.
I understand limiting gun wall ability.. But that forces us to waste ton of resources to make larger techs or to artificially increase difficulty. Which goes back to prior issue of resources and bases... Building a microscopic rover does not interest me personally. It is waste of potential to me.
There are other issues as well. But hopefully down road they get addressed. As for now I see to much going against game and play style enjoyment for me to want to get it. Will need to wait till get lot more developed to be able to decide to buy it.
It looks good.
let's give it time and stuff
personally i like the weather and atmosphere but i still am mixed about it
