Death Jaws are the most OP weapon of the game, period.
Two handed, press Y repeatedly, melt bosses with over 400 damages per hit, and it has a huge attack speed and range.
I've tested a lot of different builds with Cheat Engine, and nothing can even come close to this. Full STR + Faith build for buffs with Deathjaws. The game is so easy then, it's not even fun anymore.
I heard that mages are really strong too, maybe even more OP than Deathjaws.
Also, the game is fine, I don't see why it would require updates. We could still dream about online multiplayer but it will never come.
My take is simple, the game feels unfinished, THAT IS MY FEELING. May not be true in the developers eyes. However, all that matters is what a customer feels, and if you want your custumers to come back and purchase another product they have to like the previous product.
As is, I wouldn't purchase another of their games. I think they ran out of time/money, and just published, worked out the game breaking bugs, and moved on. Their right to do so as they have to feed themselves/family. However, it is also my right to take my money elsewhere when they publish their next product, if they ever do again.
Game development is far too competative to leave what some may feel is an unfinished game up for people to see, and, therefore, judge what your future work may be. I already have a pretty long ♥♥♥♥ list of game devs I will never purchase from again, and these guys are on that list unless they decide to improve their "finished" game.
This game is 100% finished. Stuff like minor imbalance in the mechanics etc do not make an unfinished game. Jesus, how much stuff is wrong with similar AAA titles? There's plenty of broken, unbalanced crap in Dark Souls.
If you feel this way about not supporting a developer then you're just nuts, because no one in their right mind could play this from start to finish and call it unfinished.
Game development is competetive... umm, maybe you should also learn what an audience is. There are not many people creating these styles of games. Search for a sidescrolling metroidvania with difficulty and Souls mechanics... you're coming up with this game and not much else. Ska studios will do fine, and won't miss you 20 bucks one bit.
Also, it isn't just my 20 USD. It will be that plus future titles, not just one. Plus negative review, which cost more sales. Oh, and this post that I am sure many potential buyers have read, and decided not to purchase because of it. I know I am not the only one who feels the game is unfinished as is evident from other posters.
Don't even put this game into Dark Souls League. This game is no where close to the same quality product. Dark Souls is pretty well balanced, just not noob friendly. Again, difficulties between the two games are vastly different. I don't know where people get off saying this game is difficult. IMO it is a pretty easy game. Just don't compare the two. Same style of game in their feel, but mechanically, multiplayer, 2D vs 3D, and on and on, they are DIFFERENT games.
how can you say that it would have been perfectly fine?
I hope this project is not abandoned, though. I want sequel :( Hollow Knight just doesn't have it, you know...
If you've played the game as much as you say you have, there has to be SOMETHING you enjoyed about it. Why don't you focus on that instead of burning a bridge because the developer was unable to meet your arbitrary and impossibly high standard of QA polish?
In general, to not purchase another product/service for life from a company because their previous product/service was not up to a customers standard of quality is not illogical. It is actually very common. Would you hire the same guy to work on your home after he built you a crooked fence? Would you rehire a plumber that fixed an issue just as you needed, but took 5x longer than it should have? It is simple competition dynamics, and in a free market the weak suffer and eventually die out, while the strong survive, and perhaps even thrive.
Not everyone gets a trophy for trying, not out in the real world, and not in the gaming community. Not saying the game sucks. It does have some innovative aspects, and some decent gameplay. However, it is still not up to my standards. If it meets yours then purchase their next products at full price. I will save my finite hard earned funds for a better quality product, or, possibly, when I feel the price of this companie's future product has fallen to a level that matchs the level of quality I know them for I may purchase another of their titles.
there is a difference though, if you order a company to build you a fence and he ♥♥♥♥♥ it up he has to do it right or you revoke the contract.you also could inform yourself about the company you order to build you a fence to see if they are up to the job.
When you want to buy a game you can also inform yourself about the state of the game and watch videos about it and can ask and discuss with others if this game is for you.if you buy it and find it unfinished in your opinion than you have to live with it or refund it.The product itself has left development and is therefore considered completed. Anything after that is additional Support.
