Aye. Its patterns are trivial though you need to maintain a high focus since he takes quite a bit of time to kill due to his immense sturdiness.

There's also glitch that allow you to fight that boss after the prologue, so you can use better equipment/level.

If you want to heal, start with red shards.

I killed it with my fists, because I started a magic-only run. Took about three dozen tries, but I managed it.

Yes The Unspeakable Deep is beatable as everyone here told you. There's also an achievement for that.
Suggestion: get a cleric and use blessed page you have to fight him. Go w/o armor so you have high roll speed (which is fundamental for beating him). His attacks are easy to predict cause the animation time is quite long. Roll on the opposite time and hit him 2/3 times depending on the type of the attack he just did. Repeat till dead and you will start the game levels ahead.
By the way the Unspeakable Deep face reminds more of a giant octopus or, more appropriately, Cthulhu

I killed him on my first try because I didn't know I was suppose to die there. I just figured it's like Dark Souls tossing a boss your way when you're barely out of the tutorial. First achievement I got in the game.

Regularly Kill the Unspeakable Deep due to how incredibly easy the tells are.

Start as pauper. Take off your clothes, and hold pitchfork with two hands. Role whenever it attacks you, and strong attack after you role. You will get a black pearl, drowned tome, shimmering pearl, and 8000 salt. (there's a way to get golds too, but I forgot and who cares about golds anyways.)

Unspeakable Deed only looks hard at first. In reality, it only has three attacks that take forever to come out (even when it hits second and third phases, where it speeds up its attacks). Just unequip your armor to have less than 25% equip load and that's it.

If you're new to the game then the Unspeakable Deep is a very challenging boss since you still need to learn the game. However once you get extremely familiar with the game you'll notice that his reads are very predictable. He choreographs his moves and gives you a couple seconds to react to what he's doing.

Everyone else already gave great advice, and to add more to it definitely don't rush the fight, especially if it's you're first time trying to defeat him. Take your time and dont' get too greedy as usually that is what screws you in the end. Once you defeat him once you'll defeat him on every future playthrough! And when you do first defeat him enjoy all the
