Aye, I partially mis-read your initial comment.
It is a possibility though a very unlikely one given most of the royalty-free tracks already have ben ingrained into the characters themselves
( as in, if someone hears the tune outside the game, they most likely associate them as the character theme song rather than just being random royalty-free tunes ).

their implementation within the game is a bit lacking with them only being confined to the Special Stage hyper and only the Special Stage hyper.
(kind of makes me wish that they would add a feature where you could toggle between the regular character theme and the instrumental version of the character's character song if you own the song on steam.)
