As far as I know, yes. You will need to redo it. It's a step-by-step process that must be completed in sequence. The process is based on unlocking the cutscenes and the cutscenes must be unlocked in order.

That said, don't despair. The original process for those of us who predate the "Retired Events" tab was much rougher.

What?
From what I remember, you could skip the Master of the Minions event almost entirely by waiting for other players to whittle the boss counter down, and when it reaches 0 play 1 online co-op game to unlock the extra mission and Mio. (That's how I got some friends to unlock Mio near the end of the event, since I was worried they wouldn't make Mio unlockable normally for awhile.)

Haha, well, yes, you're not incorrect in that respect but at the same time you said "waiting for other players to whittle the boss counter down". Many of us were the boss counter whittlers and we had to whittle it from 1,000,000 hp. That's a lot of Ropochis...For people who were very late to the event, yes, it was exploitable. You could play an online game and get the mission, but I was not counting those people. I'm talking about the people who participated in the event process.

I think the game will track the kill, even if you do it in the wrong order. Here is how I unlocked Tuxedo Poppo in a not-so-right order, assuming poppo event is active:

Mystery Bag (Rad) -> Killing Big Poppo as Poppo (normal mode only, Cyborg) -> Killing 12 poppo-mask units (did not receive Tuxedo) -> Killing 3 bosses (Dapper) -> Restarting the game (Tuxedo, triggered at main menu).

It should be the same for unlocking Mio - no need to redo. Again, this is just my thoughts, not sure if it indeed uses a different mechanism.

There honestly hasn't been enough reports sadly. Thus I said as far as I know. Co-op kills before retired events were made didn't count toward the total so I would assume the same. Impossible to say for sure though. Then again I have heard of a cutscene playing and the next cutscene immediately following, so no clue.

I can say for sure it doesn't count cause I beat Ropochi on hyper before clearing the 10 clears. After I cleared the next requirement of beat them on any difficulty I got the next cutscene and haven't gotten the next one since I did some online matches and still nothing so the amount of me struggling for the last few days unable to beat it again and RNG slapping me in the face when got em down to 1hp and losing.

I can attest that killing it took forever, I remember battling every day for weeks, at least you can do in a day if you are persistent. Grinding those battles was grueling, especially M10 at full power(they nerfed him). tanky and hard to knock his health.
