Hiper Star Devourer
Anyone have any tips or strategy for Star Devourer on Hiper? The problem is neither to deal damage, but to keep her stars at a manageable level

Bring large amount of Dark Side of Business then. With 2 or more Kae in your team it should not be a problem.
I think she's by far the easiest boss in hyper difficulty.

Additionally, try not to get into battle with the boss very often.
Wah that's a pretty clever strategy, gotta try this with friends.

Thanks guys, I'll try with both strategies

We just steamrolled it with three attacker Tsihs and a support Aru. Have everyone bring all the gift cards and as many Rainbow-Colored Circles as you can. The ranged revive skill helps immensely but we were able to beat it without it.

star devourer is nearly impossible to beat. if only there was a unit that has 0 base attack ordinarily but always at least +2 atk modifier in battles and also had a low recovery then maybe it would be possible if you brought as many as you could of this theoretical unit

Wow, that character sounds like not a fair and balanced character.

Hyper Star Devourer is... nasty. We beat it with two Poppo, a Kae and a seriously counter-productive CPU (honestly the CPUs are amazingly useless for this boss). Lots of lucky Ubiquitous pulls early on allowed us to keep Devourer's stars below 200 for long enough that the one Kae could get all the damage in.

But really there's very little that can stand up to her above 400 stars. The fury perk she gets is way too good, punching past shields and making it so if you're facing a 3+ attack roll you may as well evade because defending means you take at least the full damage anyway. As far as I can see that pretty much mandates Poppos to keep her stars down and hoping like heck she doesn't throw many abilities that generate stars for her.

As has been pointed out elsewhere, you can Ubiquitous the Big Poppo minion and it still takes the stars from Star Devourer. That's a little safer because the minion can't respond by killing you.

You forgot "and can dodge almost everything". :tsih:

2 poppo guards popping shields and 2 kaes should do you nicely

that would be an upside but i thought it would be unreasonable to ask for even more on top of the strengths i already listed

I honestly can't tell if you guys are talking about Kae (whose +1 EVD cannot "dodge almost everything") or Tsih (whose requirement to hold a Gift card means she doesn't "always at least +2 atk modifier in battles") or if I'm being foolish and missing someone out.

Nath attacker for the skilled players only.

4x high-level Support Tsih for the extra cheeky setup that fails as soon as SD uses Poppofication

we're talking about a theoretical player unit capable of defeating heavenly body consumer. not an actual unit that currently exists in the game. it would be way too powerful

Of course, OJ is a very balanced game: there're no bad characters and everyone is equal.

We just had a lineup that could do constant damage while being to recover fast. SoraM, Kae, Shifu.

And the best part was we had one Poppo just to shorten his stars. We didn't know what star devourer was like except the one who played as Poppo. Since we didn't know, and the one who fought star devourer wouldn't tell us about him we just straight up went attacker lineup with fast rec and poppo as avenger. It was an 800 star clutch

won on first try :D
