Generally gets you 2 experience per chapter that passes, up to chapter 30 or so.
Big the Jonathan is best because he has no timewasting minions and is way better at killing you than M-10.
I know it worked to get to level 10 quickly, that much is certain. But for higher levels...? Not sure.
(Woo. Yay... Way to go devs. Tying cosmetics to friggin XP grinds just to create "player engagement" for co-op - AKA mindless grinding without a shred of fun.)
So, basically, I think the lobbies, the way they are made is not because it makes it easier for others to level up, but rather to come out winning and don't need to play characters or roles they don't want to to achieve a win in those games.
I myself am not that high since I don't feel like endlessly losing just for some experience, so I level slower.
Just play..?
I'm max level (25) in all coop roles, just because I play coop a lot.
If you like playing coop, just play and you'll get it eventually.
If you don't like coop.... then why grind for coop levels in the first place?
Or the fact you're just fighting a dumb random roulette AI with bloated HP. Or the fact that it gets old in like 5 matches (vs each boss each), then you've seen and done it all, whereas versus gives you a hugely unique series and combination of enemies, who each prefer to play differently, and all kinds of playstyles on your end.
And a huge mappool too, whereas co-op just serves the same map over and over, most hosts don't even pick Random, they just pick whatever's the most XP-effecient/quickest-to-win map.
Ah well, this is getting a smidge off-topic... And i've definitely thrown around my ideas before on how co-op could be improved. It seems to be a lost cause now, it is in it's dying throes, only kept on life-support by those grinding XP for the accessories.
Suppose with the lack of games to play, i'll have to try it out myself if that solo method works to grind XP for levels 15-25 fast.
---
Edit:
Co-op does hold some accessories/dice hostage. (Yes. Hostage. Because you must play co-op to attain them. Playing Versus won't get you em.)
So there are people who, by nature of being a completionist or just really liking a certain dice/cosmetic/pet/achievement/etc, want to grind co-op to get them.
So, that's stuff like...
-Hyper mode rewards (which often include a dice and pet in most cases).
-Level 10-25 dice, 2 dice per role. About 10 in total from levelling up. Frankly, if you want dice in a certain colour, these might be your best bet at getting them in that colour.
-Achievements (dont care about them myself, but others do, obviously).
even at rank 1 she carries her weight far better than any other character for the role
Yes, except... not really?
The few cosmetics who are locked behind coop are DIRECTLY connected to coop.
The boss dice are a reward for beating the boss on the hardest difficulty (most of which you can do even without reaching a high level, btw)
Same for the coloured dice, they represent a certain coop class. They are basically a humble brag in a shape of a cube. If you aren't interested in coop, why bother getting a class-specific dice in the first place?
It's not like there is a new cool uniform that has no connection to coop mode at all and is just being restricted to coop for unjustified reasons.
Honestly, saying coop holds cosmetic "hostage" is beyond exaggeration. (in my opinion, at least)
And no matter what role your trying to level, be a + attacker so your helping speed games up instead of slow them down like
Defender Star breaker
Support Tsih/kae
Dealer Peat/Star breaker/kae
Attacker Kae
Avenger Sherry
Barring events, you could play OJ in versus OR in co-op to accuire any accessory, when it comes to items in general. But you want some of them co-op dice/pets? Yeah no, ♥♥♥♥ you, go play the repetitive, near-death co-op mode!! For weeks. Because we made the grind SUPER LONG!
No. The fact that you dislike coop mode doesn't make that statement true.
By that logic, you could also claim that the purple crown and the star dice are being "held hostage" by the single player campaign, which isn't the regular versus mode because the AI is rigged af.
And you could then go on to complain that FBF are trying to **** you in particular by implementing a grindy repetitive game mode that holds the beloved purple crown hostage.
Except... you'd be wrong.
Because nowhere in the game it states that you MUST grind the campaign.
You can just... choose not to, and that's perfectly fine.
The purple crown is a REWARD for people who WANT to take on the challenge of the rigged-as-hell extreme difficulty in the same way that the coop cosmetics are a REWARD for people who WANT to participate in coop mode.
The cosmetics you are complaining are being "held hostage" are direct rewards for coop related things.
It makes sense that the requirement for dice that are specifically themed after coop mode to be unlocked via the mode they are themed after.
imho, all you are really doing is taking the fact that you personally don't like coop [which is perfectly fine], and extending it to be "well I don't like it so FBF shouldn't add more coop related stuff, ever".
That's a very natural, very... human, reaction, I guess.
But it doesn't make your claim hold more weight to it. *shrug*.
Which brings me back to what I said earlier -
If you like coop, then play it and you'll eventually get to max level and beat all the bosses.
If you don't like coop, then there's no reason to bother grinding it to get dice that specifically feature a coop boss, or a coop class, which you don't even like playing to begin with.
I really don't see a reason to force yourself into feeling left out of something you never wanted to participate at in the first place O.o
EDIT:
Just to clarify, I do think the current implementation of coop levels is too grindy (and I say that as someone who maxxed out all classes), but this is beside the point of having a cosmetic reward unlocked via coop mode.
It's how I did it, and it wasn't looooooong. Fairly long yeah, and there's no real point for it besides grind for grind's sake considering how basic co-op is I agree, but it's infinitely better than, say, actually trying to get the Fighting the Windmills achievement.
The best thing about this method is it's the fastest co-op XP period. The second best thing is that it takes like 5 minutes per game, so you can easily pick it up and put it down like that. An actual co-op game with other players and trying to win invariably takes 40+ and is more of a commitment.
While grinding pumpkins I've been looking at the make-up of co-op lobbies. The vast majority are Haruo with some Johnny (Normal or Extreme). In several sessions now I have seen two Hyper lobbies (both trying for Summer Beast's achievement, post-nerf).
I've never seen Hyper on the other bosses since the pumpkin event started. Fruitbat, this is the point where you make Fighting the Windmills not suck. It's been long enough now.
None of the lobbies besides the Total Rampage ones have mentioned any particular purpose of the lobby, but if it's XP grinding they're all doing it wrong so I'd be quite doubtful.
I notice you don't have the Hyper+ achievements for Johnny, Summer Beast or... Haruo? Really? Ahem. Anyway, even if you "don't care about" the achievements, it doesn't look like you've seen and done it all.
It's easy to forget about those extreme rewards, i suppose.
Though there's still a huge difference between items you earn the hard way, and items you can only earn by extremely long grinding. Extreme campaign is brutal, but short if you're playing it smart (or are lucky), but co-op? Nah, brutal weeks-long grind no matter what.
I can deal with a challange (extreme), but i don't care for a extremely long artificial grind to keep co-op "alive".
Frankly, cosmetic rewards for co-op levels where a huge mistake. Or in general really.
---
Hm, guess the solo-jonny method is worth a shot when bored at work then.
And no, i didn't bother with the "now do it with an extreme handicap" type achievements for co-op, since just... Why? It's nothing new.
Nothing original/exciting with Haruo, Summer Beast or M10. It changes things up a little for the rest, but that soon turns into frustration, which is actively worse then boredom.
You can play co-op just to play, like what I do basically?
Yes, I know leveling can be done faster, but it ruins it a bit. There are people who don't know how to play co-op or have any tactics against a boss, run away, act too selfish destroying the chances on a win, but are (somehow) level 25. I would like to get it the real way, through experiencing plays if anything, so that I know what to do/pick under certain conditions.
I'm not too sure what is in your opinion likely better about 'normal', compared to co-op. The way players act is usually the same. Some resort to deception, others just play honest, in the end they win with stars. (wins is somewhat rare). meh-
Always the same card set, in a way and somewhat the same way as co-op it can be seen as monotone. But playing with other people can despite it be interesting.
It makes me think about the DLC, which are mainly to add some variety playing online apparently.
I did in the past. It was ignored. FWIW I have most items that require event currencies but am still a little shy of level 50. To me level 100 in online is way slower than 25 in co-op for multiple classes.
