Quake live in XP

Uhh, I remember playing Quake Live in my pc that have the windows XP some time ago, and now it doens't work anymore, the game page says that they support only win 7, they updated something that removed the support for win XP? I receive the problem "Error in starting the game (Unknown error)" I tried all the fixes that steam proposed, still nothing.

I have win XP and it runs fine for me. When I first run steam and load QuakeLive it just shuts itself down but starting it again works and then its fine then all day.

Ok, good to know that the problem isn't exactly with XP, I will try to unistall Steam and other kind of fixes, this already helps alot, must be some kind of bug with me.

Well, I saw that someone else had this same problem, I tried reinstalling the visual c++ redistributable pack, also installed .net framework, checked directx, unistalled the game and installed it again and I still have the same problem, I'm running out of ideas.

Just solved the problem, it was visual c++ redistributable pack, for some reason it does not install properly sometimes after you have downloaded the quake live so I tried to install all of those :
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - 9.0.30729.17
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - 9.0.30729.4148
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable - 10.0.40219

I have no idea which one of them exactly solves the problem, but it hurts no one to install all of those. link here http:// support. microsoft .com/kb/2661358/pt-br (remove the spaces)
Just download all of them and install it, dont forget about the right version 86x for 32 bits system and 64 for 64 systems.
