i erased like 90% of the things on my computer, i believe the main issue was my antivirus (avast).
Boot the system up in the SAFE MODE. Go to your disc C or whatever the game is located; search for "awesomium" and delete all the ".dll" files. I think there will be about 6 of them that I deleted (dont forget to remove them from the Recycle Bin!). I think I also deleted quakelive.exe so you might want to do that as well. Then start your PC normally and the game shall run no more at least when you are not in it. What you might also want to to do is to "verify the integrity of the game files" in your library at the end.
This is hot I managed to kill that quakelive_steam.exe process without deleting all the in-game settings/configs.
