Uncap the framerate
Isn't it about time the framerate was uncapped or raised to 600 or so for modern monitors?
Or is there some technical reason it has 250 max.
Can we make it happen?

above 300fps bad things happen in this engine :p
You can experiment with a higher framerate by adding x to the command line.

com_maxfps 250x

It will try to get to a 1000 and It requires more then just one game before it gets stable.
Experiment by usage.

in Original Quake III Arena, even with sourceports such as Quake3e sourceport, if you go past 250fps, such as 333fps cap, physics will break, and your Jumps will be higher, thats why QL is capped at 250fps, thats how fast the engine goes without breaking Movement Mechanics.

The cap at 250 was chosen as physics break down badly at higher frame rates as others have mentioned, maintaining it retains a level of fairness for all also.
Support for the game ended with the last update in June 2016 as well, there won't be any further updates for it.

I'm currently playing QL at 600 fps with 0.1% in the 450-500 fps range. Physics are fine.
