Help please with Wolfcam

When I try to play a new demo in wolfcam I am getting this error message:

invalid playerstate field count 58:50

I assume this is because of the newer demos are not working with the old wolfcam...

-I have the latest wolfcam (11.0test13)
-I have tried copying the pak00.pk3 over to wolfcam baseq3 folder

None of this works, still the error. Please does someone know what is wrong?

Hi.
First i would suggest that you move all your pk3s, like this:

I suggest you also to move all your custom maps / textures in the workshop folder :)

For your problem i would like to know two things:
- You have changed the name of the demo ?
- The demo is pre-steam ?

I encountered the same problem some time ago but to be honest i do not remember how i solved.

Hello, thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I still cannot get it to work. (No I have not changed the name of the demo, and the demos I am trying to play are post steam, the dm_91)

I decided to uninstall both wolfcam and wolf whisper and start again with a fresh install... but still they will not play the new demos.

Am I doing this right?

-download/install wolf whisper
-download wolfcamql-11.0test13
-copy pak00.pk3 from steam ql folder
-paste pak00.pk3 into wolf whisper > wolfcamql > baseq3 folder (replace pak00.pk3 that is already there)

I am missing a step here I am sure... what do I need to do with the wolfcamql-11.0test13? It is unzipped and in my 'downloads' folder but I have seen no instructions what to do with it...

I had this problem when I was using 11.0 test4.

I got rid of it by using 11.0 test 11, found here: http://trance.gg/Quake-demos/QuakeCon/QuakeCon%202015/Wolfcam%20dm_91%20support/

All I had to do was unzip the folder and go. I did not have to copy and pak files or set up anything to get wolfcam to work.

No, what zebby suggested did not work. I think it does not matter which of these newer versions of wolfcam I have downloaded, as Wolf Whisperer is trying to use the outdated version of Wolfcam which comes witth it.

So, I go into the wolfcamql-11.0test13 folder, find Wolfcam icon and load it. It opens no problem, but doesnt seem to find my demos. In the 'Wolfcam demos' option there is the 3 included demos (christian lime aimbot, avek vs cypher and one other) and in the 'quakelive demos' option there is just: ../
Clicking this does nothing. What I need to do is get Wolf Whisperer to use the new Wolfcam... I guess this is the part of copying the files over but for some reason is not working for me.

If I go and find the dm_91 demos in the steam folder, right click it, open with (find latest wolfcam), wolfcam will open but will not automatically try to play it (grr).

I tried also to delete the entire wolfcam folder from inside the Wolf Whisperer folder, and replace it with the wolfcam folder from the latest version, but it gives me the error "in order to continue you must have the folder called "wolfcamql, remove any letters from it if new version" or something like it, but renaming it exactly like the old one does not work.

I have tried to delete all of the pk3s that are in the Wolf Whisperer>Wolcam folder and just paste the pak00.pk3 to there, but then when I try to start Wolf Whisperer it is treating it as a fresh install and automatically will redownload/create all of the old pk3s I have just deleted and get rid of the new one I just pasted to it.

This is driving me crazy I just want to make a new video :/

(the demos Wolf Whisperer has found on the right, are new ones which I have copied from the steam demos folder and pasted to the old Quakelive appdata users local blah blah blah demos folder, it is the only way to get it to find anything

I haven't found a way to get wolf whisperer to work since the steam exclusive version came out, which is really annoying as i did have it working with the steam build before.

It's missing something since I'd had to do a clean install, i've symlinked the pk3 dirs and everything, but it just endlessly thinks its already running some install script and insists on restarting, and then does the same thing again :(

Wolfcam should work though, I'll write up instructions for a fresh install tomorrow.

To get wolfcam working if it's not at all / fresh install, first of all you want version 11 test 13 or later from https://github.com/brugal/wolfcamql/releases


start wolfcam with the following command line:

wolfcamql.exe +exec +set fs_quakelivedir "C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Quake Live\<Your Steam id 64 number here>\"

Just create a shortcut to it then do properties on that, and edit the command line.
Then it will be able to find your demo's folder when you go into the quakelive demos menu option.

If you don't want multiple copies of the pk3s etc you can also create the baseq3 folder within d:\wolfcam\ as a junction to C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Quake Live\baseq3 instead of copying the files about.

In my case that was -

mklink "d:\wolfcam\baseq3\"  "C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Quake Live\baseq3\"

Make sure the baseq3 folder doesn't exist within \wolfcam\ first, and you'll have to edit it for your own folder locations.

The other common question is usually about gibs, see the fansite http://www.wolfcamql.fr/en/simple-settings for answers to that issue.

try deleting
%AppData%\wolfcamql\wolfcam-ql

that would wipe it's settings and cache, after that I think anything else would be an actual bug, and i just use it as a demo viewer so someone else would have to help at that point I'm afraid, or you may just have to wait for a newer version.
