If you're adept with computers, you can install QuakeLive using Wine. Or, if you want a no-fuss method, buy CrossOver[www.codeweavers.com] (goes on sale often), install Steam, followed by QuakeLive. I use CrossOver and it works fantastically well.

I'm trying this solution but the fps are very poor. I get just 70 fps with an I5 ! When I'll be able to play q3 with a 125 fps! i was hopping that with this mac pro... But always a new problem! i'm bound to buy a windows :(

Apple provides the bootcamp software. They make it easy to run Windows as they know a lot of people need Windows for work, etc. So no warranty problems.

It runs games much easier this way as when you boot into Windows.. You are running at full speed. That means you'll easily get your 125fps.

Also if you get a virus on the Windows side.. It will not cross over to your OSX side..

And after installing Windows.. You can boot back and forth to OSX in 15 seconds.

All you need is a legal copy of Windows 7 or better.

Lower the resolution and some of the graphics settings until you get a solid 125 fps. Then increase the individual settings until the frame rate starts to drop. I get 125 fps on my old Core2Duo MacBook with adjusted settings. Besides, most Quake Live pros and veteran players play with simpler graphics so they're not distracted by unnecessary eye candy and pretty visuals.

You're better off bootcamping Windows...Mouse is not that good in Crossover for this game and you might be running at 90% of what you need.. You can find a legal copy of Windows on Amazon or EBay for the price of Crossover..
