also maybe u will like better the new unreal tournament, its different from quake, but still arena fps and its free
If I'd have to think of a downside of QL then only the fact that there is no blood/gore compared to Q3, yet that is. It should come with a DLC...
Anyway, finding people to play with in Q3A will be difficult as the Quake community is playing Quake Live. Also, Q3A was not built for modern systems; basic things like widescreen resolutions and 1000Hz mice will cause issues in Q3A that are fixed in QL.
Old OSP/CPMA/RA3 content is also being brought to QL via Steam Workshop, so while it currently doesn't have as much content as Q3A, that is slowly changing. You already see a bunch of old RA3 maps being voted in various Clan Arena servers by Q3 veterans (they'd be voted more often if they had actual names instead of all being hard-to-remember letter/number combinations).
Well if you mean ALL custom content that was ever created for Q3, then yea, it has more. But let's be real here - you have more chances of getting all that in QL nowadays than in Q3 if you actually wanna play with someone, QL is just catching up with custom content made for Q3 but when it's done I see no point in getting Q3.
Maybe 500 players more, they are not so many.
What i mean is that both have a few players and there isn't a difference so abysmal in my opinion.
I do not want to make a comparison with other FPS, but there are games that have over 100,000 players.
Anyway, as regards the choice between QL and Q3A, i would not know what to suggest...
I think they are very similar, it's just a matter of taste.

It's not just what I think it's the logical choice. I mean choosing Q3 over QL nowaday would be like choosing Nissan over a Lambo. The choice is always there it just wouldn't make any sense.
