there is a huge difference between making an announcement and sending emails out about it. how hard would it have been to send an email saying hey we know you love this game since youve put x amount of hours why not switch before we start charging for something we have given you for years at no cost

They really should have sent emails to all accounts registered to quake live. Several emails in fact.

I just found out about this. Loadouts, unified ammo and other ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. GTFO. They have ruined it. No way I am paying $10 for something that I already own. I have the original Quake III Arena CD. The only reason I don't play that is because there aren't any viable servers in my region :(
edit: I just tried and it doesn't run on Win 10. I tried WinXP with SP2 and SP3 compatibility and with Win 7 compatibility. No go.

Except Loadouts are not the default for FFA, unified ammo is not the default for FFA.. I can't remember how many months it's been since i've seen a server in any mode that has those enabled..

So nobody is playing this currently? Id only buy it if theres enough people to play with to warrent the purchase.

About 1100 play it at peak times according to some sites that track steam games. Most popular mode is CA I think.

I really want to play but I am not willing to spend $10 on it. Shame. I never really got to play Q3 online. Played it a bit at a few LANs back in 2004/2005 though. RIP old friend.

get it in the next sale was £2 last time, its well worth it. Paid 20x that for games that I have only played a few hours of, see The Division for one.

I will keep an eye out if it goes on sale. If it's like $2 or something maybe I'll consider it.

I was contemplating getting The Division. I am glad I didn't. I see pretty much only problems with it being posted on FB and around the place.
