{SOLVED} Using a PS2 controller but the left analog stick moves me around instead of aiming, how do i fix this?
So I have a problem that I can't seem to figure out right now, and it's this. So I'm using a PS2 dualshock 2 controller (yeah you read that right), and normally I aim with the left analog stick. However, no matter what I do with the setup the analog stick wants to move me forward, strafe left, strafe right and move backwards.

But I just want to aim with it and if i use xpadder it both aims and moves me around simultaneously making playing pretty much impossible. When I look up, it also moves me forward. When I look down, it also moves me backwards. When I look to the left, it also strafes me to the left. Anyone know of a way to fix this so that I can just aim only with the left analog stick? I never had a problem with this during the standalone QL days.

Edit: What seems to be happening is that regardless of whether or not I'm using xpadder, QL is recognizing the left analog stick as the arrow keys on the keyboard. But then if i press the arrow keys on the keyboard themselves, i don't move, but if i press up or down or whatever on the analog stick it moves my around as though i'm pressing the arrow keys, but i have the movement buttons mapped out to totally different buttons so i have no idea what's going on.

So i finally got it working right, i typed in "in_joypad 1" or "in_joystick 1" or whatever it was in console, but i'm not sure that's what actually fixed the problem. When i booted up QL i didn't have my PS2 controller connected, then connected it, then typed in the above command in console, then ran xpadder, then had to remap all the buttons in the settings in accordance with the xpadder binds to get everything mapped correctly but whatever, it's working fine just like during the standalone days so now i can actually play. Hurray for me lawl

i think unless you are some sort of joypad god you will get badly owned using a pad and that won't be fun for you. it really is worth learning how to use a mouse and keyboard as that is what this game was designed to use. mouse and keyboard is far superior for any fps
