Textures "nearest", make this game a high quality indie game
Yep, I like it more than that blurred bilinear or trilinear filter. As a matter of fact, I don't even kown of a pixel style indie game, that is 3D and looks as good as this 17 years old triple AAA title. 0.o

Broforce looks good, but it's 2D. Devil Daggers looks good, but it doesn't have actual level design.

So, the pixels on the walls really don't show for long. I still have to stand quite close to a wall if I wanted to see them. This game only uses like 512X512 texture resolution and I have trouble to spot pixels on a 1080p monitor... time for a 4K monitor! :D

you is smart, such big anusbrain )
No it doesn't. All of the textures are nicely crafted in photoshop with brushes, brushes, brushes, edges, brushes, brushes, more brushes, layers, brushes

there is no pixel art in this game at all and nearest filtering won't make it look like pixel art

True It's not actual pixel art, it was never intendet to be. But for pixel art you only need pixels, so a very low resoluton of like ~32 pixels maybe. ~512 pixels is obviously too big. A 512 textures fits like 3.75x2.10 times into a 1920x1080 screen resolution. While a 32x32 pixel texture would fit 60.00x33.75 times into a screen.

That's why I do have to get closer to a wall to see pixels. Some GFX texture are very much pixel style already. Funny thing about that is though, that those textures have a failed shader file. GFX textures supposed to ingnore the custom user texture filter setting. I found at least three GFX textures that don't have the right shader code. While all the others do seem to have the right code.

I already ordered a 4K monitor. No it's not really for games. Yes, I play games at work. However, a 512x512 texture would fit 7.50x4.21 times into 3840x2160. I could reduce the texture resolution by lowering the texture quality setting. But, yeah, since this game ain't developed for actual pixel art, the textures will gain pixels, but loose their intended "impression".

I guess QL would qualify as a HD pixel art game!? Though, if one wanted to make a HD pixel art game, I guess 256 pixels should be max, not 512.

download the remake of system shock (demo)
they didnt implemented texture filtering and everything is pixelated :)
