Would this Hardware run 250 fps stable?
Which is more important GPU or Cpu?

I see the AMD 480 or 490x is supposed to be prettie good for a Graphics card, would it be able to support 250 fps, or at least 144 hz monitor? Maybe a gtx 960 card would?
?

what cpu At Least would i need to be able to Match that Gpu?? tks.

a 460 should give you 250 constant without a hickup. I have ran it on 250 on much older cards :)

Add quakelive to your graphics card as gaming application. your 960 could do 500fps if the framrate was unlocked. I make 250 on my integrated intel 5000 gfx....

does that also apply to a monitor staying constant at 144hz or above? Where you said 500 fps.

Im running 250 fps stable(fullscreen resolution, I play most other games on low res like 800x600, but I can play this on 1366x768). I use a Pentium g3258 3.1 Ghz processor and a OLD AMD Radeon HD7400 gfx card.

Also, you really don't need 250 fps :D

N2k I'm very probably old enough to be your dad son. Take your bs elsewhere as you clearly dont understand the difference between q3 and ql.

Since you do, would you tell me if Recording demos will hurt my fps? Should i opt for better hardware since it take some fps off recording?

Are you building this for Quake only or naw? It's kind of poinltess to buy a brand new video card to play Quake when it will run on anything. If you're bulting a whole new computer because you want a new gaming computer and you're getting the RX 480, go with something like a i5 6600(k)

It's a popular choice that pairs with it well for a lot of games not just Quake.

Also becuse you guys are fighting over it, yes more FPS is better because of frame times.

Yes this is mainly for quake, then again, I have not had a computer that can play anything BUT QUAKE for so many years, Maybe I should get that at least so I can Try other things.

I used to use it to analyze chess positions, and multiple cores helped with that. With this computer I can't calculate, well, ♥♥♥♥, lol.

If i do go higher end i'm getting stuck on this gtx 1060 6gb and above graphics cards, and a 4790k or above processor(6600k is an option yes!). Otherwise I'll stick to your guys recommendations.

As far as i know recording shouldnt mess with your fps. I am assumming you are just doing /record or using auto action. I have never even thought to consider that.
*Thank you Price, i've seen this before but didnt feel like looking for it lol!

lol who is this n2k guy? He's calling people out as trolls, but look his avatar! FFS.

Also, server fps are locked at 40, no matter what value it has been set at for a server.

NO. I stated earlier, if you read.....I will be keeping it at around 125-144 hz
LuckyStrike Nov 9, 2016 @ 3:00am
On 144 Hz TN monit thers a diff between 125 and 250 fps. Its called "less intput lag" and U can feel it very clearly.
