I love Quake but are there enough people online to justify getting it? Does it take a while to find a game?

Is it honestly worth $10 or should I wait for sale?

I'd wait for a sale. It's lots of fun, but it's an older game and not getting updates anytime soon.

Online it says the next summer sale is likely in June. I don't know if i want to wait that long.

Maybe there also will be "publisher's week-end" earlier. Hard to say.

this is better.. https://ql.syncore.org/
personally i been wondering how the game can make more new fans to the player base than what its got now, but maby i just missed out on its glory days but i think it can still have a chance, anyways they have quite a few players still playing now a days and alot of them are really good ive even seen some new people and the best part about this game it runs on any computer that you can throw at it witch makes it pretty useful if you dont have a high end pc, i game on a 5 year old laptop in ffa lobbies and have a blast its defiantly worth the buy

To be quite honest it is a dead game, but you will find on Quake Live the most solid player base that a "90s shooter-based" FPS can offer today! No doubt! You can buy Quake 3 or Unreal Tournament 99/04 and you will see with your eyes the desert of servers.

But, do not expect anything more! The professional players of Quake Live left this game after Quake Champions (terrible game by the way) and the developers no longer care about QL or update anything.

So Quake Live is still a great FPS, super solid, fun, cheap, but never expect full servers like in CS: GO, OverWatch or Paladins. It is clearly a niche game.

And if there are not people on servers atm, do what people do in fighting communities. Aka, pick up games. You leave a message in discord, or IRC or whatever place , and others who there react and u communicate when and how play. That's how it is for quake's cpma scene.

Yeah, well remembered, great tip!
