One thing I don't understand about the Elo system...
In Freezetag today, prior to the game starting I had 1991 Elo. We won the game, I was 33/11 k/d, but I lost 28 Elo. Why do you lose Elo if you do well and win?

they calculate the elos by the glicko2 formula, just if u want to search for. there is a explanation somewhere on the qlstats page

It depends on the ELO your opponents had. If they had much lower ELO that could happen, you can check what ELO they had here: http://qlstats.net I don't play freeze tag but maybe some players where less time on the server and that also counts.

Yes they did have lower elo but it was the only server so I couldnt help it. So if their Elo is lower you will lose Elo no matter what? There were times in Clan Arena where I played against lower Elo but totally wiped them out 10 - 1 type games and gained a little Elo though.

You can probably find a formula for calculatingELO. Winning with a big score works sometimes when opponents have low ELO, I don't care that much about ELO anyway, fun to play anyway.

yeah but I want it to be accurate for auto team balance
I love the system of Counterstrike its easy and quick to update. If you kill someone who has a higher rank you take their rank points from them and vice versa. So I can move to the top 5 players in the game quickly by killing a bunch of high ranked players

ye but that system isnt very accurate bcs it doesnt reflect ur skill at all ;)
the elo/glicko system isnt perfect but its much more accurate as to "steal" someones ranking points. there are much more factors that are considered by the formula like kills/death ratio, accuracy etc.
but there never will be a 100% accurate formula to calculate a skill so its ok losing elos from time to time so u can get back to ur true rating.
mostly i play ift and atm im on ~1750 but usually im a 1900 player but didnt played for some weeks... it make sens bcs i have to get back into the game again ;)
I disagree since I am dominant in CS and once I beat all of the best players and have a high rank myself I maintain it as I am able to beat the noobies. Those who have high rank as me only take -5 points for killing me

It still doesnt make sense. I am winning against higher Elo players on ranked servers and still lose elo
