they calculate the elos by the glicko2 formula, just if u want to search for. there is a explanation somewhere on the qlstats page
the elo/glicko system isnt perfect but its much more accurate as to "steal" someones ranking points. there are much more factors that are considered by the formula like kills/death ratio, accuracy etc.
but there never will be a 100% accurate formula to calculate a skill so its ok losing elos from time to time so u can get back to ur true rating.
mostly i play ift and atm im on ~1750 but usually im a 1900 player but didnt played for some weeks... it make sens bcs i have to get back into the game again ;)
