Finding players with same skill level

How do I find players with my skill level, i.e. players who suck? I join a match and get fragged immediately, no chance. I fragged 7 and got fragged 63 times. It's just demotivating. And no, I won't spend many hours to get better, I have other things to do! I just want to join a match and frag other losers.

I guess the only option is to find and add other noob players here, and then host matches with them, maybe with bots too. Or PvE against the bots lol :)
I'm suck too. Not that i mind getting 7 frags per match, but if others with same level have some ideas to have fun, add me.

I have read that the game finds players with similar skills depending on how far you get in the training course. I can only win against Crash on Intermediate and the other two courses not at all, so why am I playing against pros on the internet...

That was when it was operated by id themselves and browser based, nowadays anyone of any skill an join any server they choose unfortunately.

That's a shame. Now I fragged 1 more guy, but was killed 10 times. My career statistics are getting worse.

Try a team based game, they tend to have less players that are trying to kill you. Freeze tag (FT) is good fun.

There's a server mod that allows for skill limiting, both for low skill or high skill only. Or even medium skill if needed. But not all servers are running this.

It can be raised with bots(it counts when playing with other ppl, for some reason). Not like there's a reason to do so intentionally.

I found instagibs are quite fun. A lot of frags, a lot of deaths, no items, no ammo, no hp, pure target practice :)

Judging by your score you are gonna have a hard time finding players on the same skill level, after the steam merge the tiers that were used for absolute new players, tier 1 and 2 dissapeared, with the average player being tier 3. The lowest skill level of players that still play the game in decent numbers would be tier 3, average players.

Still, there are servers that will welcome people that just wants to play the game regardless of skill level, like someone already suggested, you should probably begin with team modes, clan arena is the most popular gamemode and isn't as punishing as other gamemodes since you already spawn with all the weapons and max health and armor, and servers like OSO Clan Arena will hardly kick you for not having a good score and also have an ELO restriction, so players that would destroy everyone can't play.

Thank your for your tips! It's ironic what id Software did with Quake Live. They made it as a browser game (WTF?) and dropped the M for a T rating (hell no!), because they focused on casual players. Then they remove the feature which is supposed to match players with the same skill level, so that casual players have a hard time against pros and most will quickly give up. No wonder that Quake Live isn't popular anymore. It's a shame, because Quake III Arena / Quake Live is genius!

Back when there was 5 tiers I was tier 3 so average at best then a couple years ago they merged the 5 tiers into 4 tiers so I became a top tier player even though I was far form expert. They ruined it for the average players for the vocal minority.

But as I said the popularity of this game suffers if it just focuses on pros (so Quake players in general are a minority) and it's contrary to what they intended with Quake Live.

from what I've seen, there just aren't enough players to go around to have "newb" servers any more.
