Offline Bots?
Can you play this game offline with bots? I don't have good connection so I won't be able to reliably play online.

Is the game online only?

If online only and no bots, can anyone recommend another Quake that has offline bots? I read a bit about Open Arena but it's not an actual Quake game? Would that be a good place to start?

Or buy a copy of Q3 (if you can find it). Played 100s of hours against bots back then.

Correzz is right. In Quake Live you have to manually set each game with bots whereas in Quake 3 you have sort of a "campaign" where you fight bots on different maps and unlock next batch of maps once you complete a given tier. It's more fun than what Quake Live has to offer so if you want to play only bots I would try Quake 3. If you want to also play online, Quake Live is better.

Also - check out Open Arena. It's exactly like Quake 3 (same source code), but with different assets (models, sounds, maps, etc.). It's as close to a free version of Quake 3 as they come, definitely worth a look (and it's free!). It also has bot matches organized in a "campaign".

Start an offline match then set min players to how many bots you want.

Skirmish allows you to have more bots.

Yeah, I know. It's similar to Q3 after all. I just find those "campaign" matches to be cooler - it gives you a sense of completion once you beat them all etc. :)
