Quake Live for FREE

Alright guys, i don't know if this only works for me but i did not pay for this game and was still able to play it.


HOW IT HAPPEND:
All I did was download the old Launcher.. then the Launcher told me that the game moved to Steam and I could simply download it from the Shop. There was the Button "This game is already installed: Play Now!" I pressed it and the Game downloaded 1GB (I guess I just downloaded the Launcher and Steam found that on my Pc and thought I have the Game)

so... if you wanna play this game try it before there's a fix! :)

Steam gets about 30-40% or sth like that so if you wanna support the Developers you can do that through Donations too.
I don't see your Problem.. if someone can't afford it and uses this method to get it free the hey - good for him, i'm glad i could help. I did not use any illigal method. Just the old launcher.

If you registered your free account to steam before the pay wall then you got the game for free.

I did not even make an Account.. all I did was downloading the launcher, open it and then opend Steam.

do u not know, the game quake live for free did run a hybrid of adobe flash, id tech 3, and javascript and was published by id software. Until bethesda came along as the developer and asked to put it on steam to just be only id tech 3 2.0, and bethesda bought the game and made from f2p to p2p. so there is your answer

and the free quake live had premium monthly purchase for maps but quake live on steam for $10 has it where you can have all the maps without have to do subscription based maps

but it could be that bethesda was not making very many money off of free quake live

Downloading the old launcher does nothing. It was written long before the Steam version, and the Steam version does nothing to detected it.

Downloading anything from 3rd party sites puts you at risk of viruses, keyloggers, rootkits, malware etc. The launcher is long dead and won't let you play the game at all.

(btw Quake has never used Flash, it had a Flash banner thing on the website at one point but that was rapidly replaced with html/js.)
