Faded Text At Start & Hidden Item At Chuns Room?
I've finished SOMA and I was wondering about two things. When you get to Catherine Chun's room she tries to get you to move on and tells you not to bother looking around because nothing of use would be found. I opened a blue box on the top of her shelf and found an item covered in mutated WAU structure gel, was she hiding this? What is it?

Also, at the very start of the game there is some faded text on the notice board in simons room, I can't work out what it says, does anyone know what's written?

I also found that item in Chun's room and she became very suspicious to me.Especially after reading Brandon Wan's log abot her. Also whoever mind was in Dunbat-robot/vehicle said something like "everything is Catherine's fault".There was also one other thing that many people could have missed:

On level delta i tried to spare nut-robot talking to himself and instead killed tiny helper and took his chip just to see what will happen. When you talk about that with Catherine and say that you feel remorse, she comforts you that "tiny robot is dumb as ♥♥♥♥" so he doesnt mind to be dead lol. But, when reading specs about robots it turns out that tiny robot has very high intelligence and complex programming. In fact he is the "smartest" of the robot helper family on Pathos II.That is clearly visible, if you kill the nut-delusional robot. After that, tiny helper runs away from you and dont follow you any more.If you approach him he will run away. Not so dumb after all.

That's when i realised she's a liar. But it seems that all of this stuff had absolutely no effect on the later plot :-)

Hey, I think you may be confused, the robot specification document indicated that the little robot was not self-aware and simply followed basic protocol's unlike the other robot which had a human brain scan active.

The player was made to feel attached to the little robot but in the end the morally correct choice was to destroy the non-concious smaller robot as killing the other robot would be akin to killing an actual human compared with destroying a block of metal.

Does no one actually know what the item is in Catherines room? I was expecting an answer but it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to find one.

The item covered by structure gel may be a part of the Vivarium (a sort of proto ARK manufactured by the WAU and itself based on Catherine works on virtual reality before comet impact)...

Where is this document? Btw I think the small robot's name (or model if you wish ;) is Kate, as in K8 :k8happy: I didn't kill it because it was the only good, to me,.. entity that I ever met until then although I really struggled for a minute there. I didn't *want* to kill it but I knew it was 'bad' to kill the robot with a human consciousness in it. I finally killed the robot, though. Didn't notice that Kate ran away. :k8sad:

I can't remember exactly where I found the document but I believe it was stored on one of the terminals (it wasn't a physical document). The document had a few robot types listed explaining their levels of intelligence and purpose and whether they required or could be used by a pilot. I think the terminal was inside one of the small buildings around the area where you get picked up by the zeppelin.

I thought I was finished with this game but I'm eager for a second playthrough so that I can pick up on these missed things. Add so much to the experience. Thanks, I'll look for it if I go back there.

Actually, ignore me, I think that first guy was correct. I think I've remembered it wrong as the wiki states the bot has complex intelligence but it was still the morally correct choice to kill the little bot. I might have gotten mixed up with what the document said and what Catherine said after you get on the zeppelin. Either way that document still exists so I guess you can find out yourself. I tried finding the document online but nothing came up.

I don't think anything on the notice board is anything of significance. I mean its a notice board, he probably had "Get eggs and bacon" somewhere on the faded text

Killing the robot with a brain scan is morally correct in my opinion, he thinks that everything is normal, that nothing is wrong. He will rot there until he runs out of battery or breaks down. Killing him is to end the suffering that he is unaware of. The little robot can't feel or have feelings, therefore it won't suffer, just simply break or shut off.

That's not correct, actually. Did you listen to the talking robot? He was clearly delusional but he was happy and enjoying himself, he wasn't suffering at all (quite the oposite to be exact). So, killing a human is acceptable over destroying a block of metal if the human is delusional? I'm seriously confused as to why you thought he was suffering, everything he did indicated otherwise.

This guy is correct it is the WAU's copy of Catherine's protype, you find an audio log in the same room that talks about another person making a copy of her prototype (you can also find this copy in Catherine's room) and letting the WAU see it and copy it, making it work better than ever.

I suppose Catherine was worried about anyone finding out that they used the WAU's modifications to improve the ARK.
