2) Severely wounded survivors need desperately bandage. If You dont have one, and You cant craft it, You should trade it, or if You have hospital site available, go there and find nurse (normally moving around). They will reduce Your wounds by 1 level.
3) Only 2 characters can backstab to death: Roman and Arica, some can backstab to death from hiding locations (marked with black). Most characters can not beat soldiers and Im happy it is this way...
Some basics:
Give You characters only cooked / canned food, and do it first time at day 5, then day 8, then 11. I know it sounds crazy, but try it.
At sites focus expensive stuff + stuff that You need following day. That means often carrying materials and leaving food on site. Dont carry books, toys, sigarette parts etc. Focus Materials, Wood, Water, Parts and of course luxuries.
Be ready to have something valuable every time Franco (door salesman) shows up, You should clear him from materials/wood/water/parts every time. The faster You get up Your spirit factory and herbal workshop, the faster You know , You have won the game.
Think who You have in team and what is weather doing. I know, instincs tell that focus food, but this is wrong in This War Of Mine. Dont build rat traps early, You can easily scavange food that You need. If You have Roman in team, he is a fighter, but leave him to guard at nights, he will make a big difference. You cant clear off maps with him anyway, as he is going to get depressed if You kill too many innocents.
In the shelter:
try to build crowbar fast (workshop) to open doors at lower cost, than lockpicks.
try to build hatchet fast (upgr workshop) to utilize useless furniture and speed up Your buildings.
dont build cooker too early, its a waste of ressoursses. As I told, You need to eat at day 5 first time, but for that time You probably have canned food already from scavange...
dont build heater too early, make sure that winter is coming from radio. But WHEN You need to build it, make sure You upgrade it too straight away.
If You dont have Roman, fill holes in house, to keep away looters. do it in 5 days maximum.
If You have characters that do some tasks more effectively, make sure they would do them. For example Bruno cooks wasting less water/consumables, make sure Bruno is always cooking. Not all skills are shown in bio, You should check new tasks with all characters, some will show different cost.
And most important, be happy You find it challenge yet!! Its a wonderful game, unfor too easy, once You get the mechanisms. Im modding it to more difficult already.
Hunger goes like this:
1) Normal - 1 day
2) hungry - 2 days
3) very hungry - 2 days
4) starving - 2 days
So as You see, if You feed characters first time at second day of being very hungry, You reduce hunger to just "hungry" again and thats OK. Then it takes 3 days to reach 2nd day of "very hungry" again.
There is absolutely no point to waste food and feed folks at every second day, if You get good and You want to keep characters well fed, You may go for feeding every day, that means Your mornings start with level 1 "hungry" and You satisfy survivors to normal again. There is however no prize for doing so, You just need 3 times more food!
A question may rise, what if we go for feeding at second day of starvation, which would mean feeding at day 7, 10, 13 etc... I dont know exact code, but when I tried this, I FELT (dont know for fact), that survivors get ill and guard shelter MUCH WORSE, if they are constantly at very hungry/starved level. Hope this explains...
