How do you survive the scenario with just Marko?
Title says it all, really. If I leave the shelter I come back to find all my stuff's been stolen; if I stay in the shelter I'm worn down by injuries as soon as I hit the outbreak of crime. I've tried prioritising defence, but even with all board-ups and a hatchet he can't avoid getting constantly wounded and there's no way I can get guns or armour with the level of resource depletion caused by constant thefts.

Right question would be: "how NOT to survive with Marko solo?"

Basically situation is like this: You dont need to heat the shelter, as You only may get sick during night, but now You always scavange. You dont get attacked, if You play (relatively) safe locations. You dont need stove, as You will find enough canned food to survive alone.

So You need just one bed, to sleep off night tiredness and thats it.

Ofc if You want to keep joining survivor alive too, You should build shelter. You asked about night rides: looters focus food and meds, if those are available. You should bring with You stuff, that You use immediately. For food, You can cook it, and keep it on the stove, they can not steal that food. DONT STAY IN SHELTER OVERNIGHT!

1) you may get wounded etc.
2) your net income is way bigger from scavange, than loss from looters.

In general - very easy scenario, joining survivor makes it harder:D

Like Blind Luck Inc. says. Raiders onley steal from your inventory. Don't loot the whole shelter right away. Anything you aren't going to use that day should be left in the piles. Also, if you do things like start to make cigs, build a ton of water filters, etc, then just immediately walk away from the bench, you can just cancel the work later and you get all the resoureces back. You can uses benches like a safe.

What i do is use every material i have and loot things that I'll use the next day.
It's risky, but what they steal isn't that important.

Also, just hope anothet survivor came to join you.

collect and eat your canned food first. loot only what you will need to protect your home asap.

I personally think that playing with Marko is the easiest one.

I once attempted a one survivor story.

During the day, he would sleep and eat, bind his wounds and things like that.
At night, there was trading and scavving but once the crime wave broke out it became nearly immposible for him to keep his ♥♥♥♥ together because even though there was nothing at the crashhouse to be stolen, the face that someone broke in was enough to drive him into a breakdown and lie down and rot away.

Survival with Marko(anyone) Solo.

Day 1: Scavenge Shelter, but pick ONLY EXACTLY what you need to build a bed first, then metal workshop.
At night, don't brig back more then what you exactly need for next build, be it the stove for food.
Spend the night scavenging on bringing all the loot into one location for easier pickings later.
don't worry about raids, you have nothing for them to steal if you make sure to only pick exactly what you need each day and night.

Usually around days 5-7 you will get a second survivor, and now you basically have survived, unless you blunder up big time.
By now you have a second survivor, and the shelter can be looted more and more things built.
before too long you will have a third.or was it turd.....noth sure, but another will join and then you are really set.

Just don't use Marko to fight, that is NOT what he is about, wait with any fighting , other then maybe the rapist soldier until you get a more combat oriented survivor to join

When I play Marko alone, I'll take the things I can't stand to be stolen with me on raids. I'll fill about 5 slots as "insurance."

I planned for what I want to build or the food I need to eat and don´t take anything else from my house or any other place. and carry only what was necessary to loot for that night. When I have extra things I don´t want to lose I took them and trade for what I need. The only problem I had was even though I hardly ever lost anything-- the program always said I was raded so Marko continued to be depressed and eventually hung himself!
Eat cans. Sleep. Eat cans. The war is over.

Marko is the way easiest. Remember that if you have some sort of problems with people stealing food (if you hoard) then you can also take food and essentials with you when you scavenge. I once played Marko so that I always had "everything I needed" with me and only replenished items.

No problem with people stealing when I was not there because I never left anything in the house,
but..but,,,,,,the program would always say I was raided and Marko would get more depresed, even though there was nothing stolen, until one day he hung himself!! That was my issue.

I find the same sence of hopelessness in Frostpunk also, everything is going great, have surplus of goods, moral is high and nothing negative....then word comes that the other group has all died and then my villagers almost commit sucide and the whole program takes a dive to hell! Their reaction is totally unrealistic. That is why I hardly ever play this War of mine and am starting to play less and less of Frostpunk. For me it is sad because both games could be really great games but??????

I've survived only with Marko for 5 days or something, just because I already had upgreaded the door and fixed the walls.
Is not that hard tbh.
