Question about Raids

This might sound like a silly question - but do things like a Shovel or Crowbar (normally considered equipment) count as weapons when defending against a raid?

I don't have any weapons in the shelter currently, but when I do get raided it says 'We had some weapons' and the only thing I have is a Half Used Shovel. Is that what the game is referring to?

I tried taking the shovel out on scavenging one night and got raided upon my return - it said 'We had no weapons' - which leads me to believe that even a shovel can be used to defend the shelter? (Obviously not as well as a gun...!)

Yup, the crowbar, shovel and hatchet count as a weapon, both during scavenging and shelter defense.

Haha, like I said - silly question. Just that the shovel is 'equipment' and 'weapon' yet is referred to as 'equipment.' :P

Or more precicely: a firearm is four times more effective in defending, that cold weapons.
