i've seen few times that a survivor smoke a cigarette or drink coffee, but by itself !
how to say to a survivor to go to read a book? smoke a cigarette?..

They do it at random. Survivor with addiction will jam what they are addicted on their own. If you want to see smoker in action real fast. Try to get Bruno, get cigarette for him. He will do nothing except to smoke this damn thing all day. You left him idle for 3 sec, he will start to sit and smoke. This doesn't happen often to other character. Only Bruno. Bruno known. Bruno doesn't cares. Bruno want cigarette. Bruno will get his cigarette. You robbed this pack of cigarette from someone? Bruno doesn't give a damn if he can get one. Bruno is love. Bruno is life.

You cant make them read, but plop them into an armchair or chair and most times they will smoke or drink coffee. If you have them do a chore, then leave them alone to go "idle" most of the time they will go to a chair and do it as well. Katia in particular loves to do nothing but drink coffee all day. It's cool though as she doesnt go through that many beans. 30 beans will usually last her or the other guy (forget his name, the guy with the building perk) the full war.

Coffee drinker will consume 1 bean everyday per person. Smoker consume 3 cigarette everyday per person.

Yep, the only thing I've ever senn him get crybaby over, being out of cigs. Kill people? who cares! I'm eating raw rat to survive? Eh, it's a war... Out of cigs? THERE IS NO REASON TO LIVE, KILL ME NOW OH HEARTLESS UNIVERSE! LET DROP THE SWORD OF DAMECLES INTO MY BOSOM AND END THIS SUFFERING.

He's worry so much about not survive this war, but don't think about how much cancer he will get from that extensive smoking.

It doesn't need to be only "food" since his trait also help reduce the material need at herb/med station. This guy could cook a meth in his freetime, who know?

I'm on day 17 and now I'm terrified that Bruno will kill himself because every time I get a cigarette I sell it in fear he will consume it. I don't know if they even get consumed but I'm not waiting to find out. I don't even know how to stab people from a hiding spot on my Switch version. I'm really scared. Bruno is depressed too. I get them to talk to each other. They have one book. They should ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ read it instead of looking at it on the shelf like some weird hoarder.
