This War of Mine
Murdering Psychopath
I have been skimming over the discussions list looking for any thread that I might be able to help out. While I was looking over them I noticed multiple have been saying things like 'I have killed everyone in my world' and 'I am finished with my first walkthrough as a friendly guy now I want to do a second with me being a murdering psychopath'. The list goes on. I was just wondering how on earth you do this? I am still on my first walkthrough (shamefully) and I had to kill one night, steal the next, and kill again all in a row. And my team is fully of 'Sad' and 'Depressed'. It seems highly unlikely you'd be able to play as a murderer or a bandit with this morale system. If you have experience playing with such a guideline or you just know how they're doing it please tell me. I already know all about the anti-depression things you can do in the game but I assume they won't exactly be very effective if you're doing all of that on a regular basis? Any information concerning this topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

bro same thing with me i had so much food and stufff and then all of theme became depressed... i mean honestly its a live or die situation and its basically natural slecetion. i should be able to play as a bandit but with type of cons such as being so blood thirsty im focused on killing instead of building and stuff like that. like why when i kill a bandit who is threatening to kill me my team gets sad... i dont under stand that.

Well not all the time... Bruno never get sad for these things lol

Honestly I think if the teammates were real they would be clinging to their moral standards to keep their humanity or something like that. But yeah I think they should at least acknowledge the fact that this is a life and death situation. It would be nice if they added more playable characters who have little or less care for if they steal/kill or not. That would be much more realistic to be completely honest.
The thing with Psychopaths is that in real life they are very much solo individuals. The whole aspect of being Psychopathic is that your divorsed from general society. I actually think it would be interesting if under certain circumstances, certain individual characters could completely lose all sense of morality and 'become' blood thirsty. But by doing so you'd become left on your own as a soloist and therefore would find the game extrememly difficult as you wouldn't be able to protect your home and scavange at the same time.

Or there could be an option to be a bandit type group instead of a 'Survive don't kill/steal moral standards what's right' type thing. Like I said it'd be much more realistic.

Probably spend a lot of time getting survivors to talk to each other to reduce status from Broken to Depressed. It appears that if once Broken and restored, subsequent murders or theft have less effect on a particular survivor's morale.
After my current play through I'm going to try and get another one with the lawyer girl. After killing the old man and his son at the garage and the old couple and their son at the appartment she was the only one on my team that wasn't effected. She didn't do any of the killing but she was not even in the sad state. I think this may be what her trait does, I'm going to try testing it on another play through though. This would mean she would always be able to get people out of the broken state though, so your whole group won't all leave or kill themselves.

I think that this is a little besides the point as one of the artistic aspects of the game is that it functions as a political statement on current events: Iraq, Afganistan, Ukraine etc.

I'm not sure if this game has mod support but given the character of the game I feel like a "bad guy" specific mode would be better for a mod than main feature.

Not really. He is unstable person. Sometime, he doesn't cares a damn and act like tough guy. Sometime, he cares too much and start to breakdown, then argue with other or hurt them at night.

Not really, psychopaths don't feel things like normal people, true, but there are all kinds of psychopaths. Most pretend to be normal so that they can fit in with the society, in times like these it has been known that psychopaths take over these groups and actually make them stronger.

You see, surgeons and doctors are often psychopaths, did you know that? A considerable percentage of them is. Psychopath doesn't mean murderer, it's just that they often are OK with muder. Not that they want to do it or something like that.

The OP very well pointed out "murdering" psychopath, that is a different sort, not so often to be found in the society, but when they are, those people are either mastermind criminals (still sociable) or serial killers (a very rare case) and with these, they still mostly try to blend in with the society.

The image of a psychopath you have is from the "classicals" who are psychopaths and have low IQ, they will get violent with no regard for their surrounding, leave stupid evidence if not do it in front of everyone else because they just don't care. Those people don't do much harm though because they don't very often get to repeat their crimes.

To answer the OP, this game is designed to be played with a group of "normal" people, I once played with a guy who was a psychopath because I modded him and the game suddenly became so easy to play that it lost its point. The depression and emotions of your group are what makes the game difficult, strip that and you get a rather too easy a game with not much point.
Honestly i never had any problem with killing everyone. I failed my first couple of attempts at this game but after i got the hang of it, killing people to save other people is all i do.
First things first, don't kill civillians or soldiers but start with thugs. Get weapons from them. Then when you feel ready and stacked some food so that you won't have to scavenge for food for a week or so go empty the military base.
The way you do it is, you approach the guy standing at the door, he gets called by his superior. When he does, climb up the ladder next to you and stealth kill the guard there. Wait for the other guy to come back and see his buddy is dead. When he does, you can either shoot him as soon as possible or try to take him out stealth as well. The 3rd soldier will be on to you soon so you can either try spraying him down and leave quickly before the rest comes or just escape after killing only the first 2 guys. From that point on you should be able to kill rest of them within 1 or 2 runs and then loot the entire place. You should get more than 100 bullets and if you manage to loot the corpeses as well, you will get like 5 - 6 AK-47
From that point on it's basically game over if you don't do a huge ♥♥♥♥ up.
Just remember to get at least 20 ammo, and AK-47, a steel vest and a helmet and a hatchet before you go there. Also stack a weeks worth of food.
I just did this in my current game and my team is; Marko, Pavle, Arica and Kalina(little girl)
I missed a couple of early shots and backstabs so Marko and Pavle nearly died and Kalina got "broke" but i cleared the camp somehow and they survived.
Now i am like a firearms baron in the city, i sell AK-47 to peasants and they give me their food. Then they give me more food for the bullets lol

As i said, don't kill civillians straight up, first of all, rush a hatchet. Then go kill some armed thugs and get gear and weapons from them. And then go kill soldiers.
The key to killing everyone is to get your guys to the best state of psychology first otherwise they get depressed. So basically, you need to do good deeds AND you need to be in shape. Then they're going to feel "content"
That's when you can kill people and they won't get depressed. Because they were already in a positive mindset to begin with. And you should keep this positivity up while killing people by keeping your people healthy, fell fed, well rested, and also when people comes at your door asking for help, do help them.
That way they won't get depressed. They'll keep telling things like "I'm sure Marko had his reasons for killing them" etc.

TL;DR

So basically, kill the thugs first which they don't care about. Get rich so you can keep your guys happy at all times AND help others as well. When they seem to be doing fine go kill everyone in the military camp, then just take of your guys until they become content which you can easly do because now you are rich. You can achive this state around day 30 in a 80 day long game where winter hits mid-game.
So you can proceed to killing everyone in the second half of the game, your survivors won't give a ♥♥♥♥. They'll be too happy to give a ♥♥♥♥.
