use the collector, u need a filter as resouce 2 start collect the water
Basically the rainwater collector doesn't do anything on its own.

Every time you put in a filter it will give you 4? water when the timer is over. And then you put in a new filter and start over again.
how do i use it? i mean unlike say chairs and beds, i can't place it in the world. thats whats confusing me =X

when you choose to build it you get to place it like any other object . once its placed and you have a filter you click on it and over a short time you get 4 water. And can then build more filters and keep using it.

1. Build the Rainfall Collector
2. Build a filter at the workbench.
3. Click the Rainfall Collector and tell it to collect water (This costs 1x Filter to start)

Much like cooking a meal really.
roger. gotcha. thanks!

the trap. it needs rats right? the house is clear so im guessing i built it for nothing sadly :C
im low on bandages does the hospital do patching up? from the discription it should, but last time i went there... i kind of died so im too scared to try again. can someone tell me if they do some bandaging or something?
The traps do catch rats (even if you dont see any) and are one of the best "stable" food sources if you can manage to get 2 traps running. Output time is random though.
The hospital doc should fix you up if you're wounded enough.
it says im 'severely wounded' i cant get past the trading doctor. last time i tried and i got shot dead. so im worried.

i got 1 trap running and it took 3 days to yield something. though it only gave me 2 vegetables. are you sure that the garden isn't better?

its my first playthrough so im making lots of mistakes. i mean i went for some chairs and totally ♥♥♥♥♥♥ myself up. now im trying to hunt for food and at the same time get some parts/food which i need to burn to make food, but i also need wood to make the garden....

and i think i found out all the available looting locations im about 16 days in and no new location is showing up. the fact that the current locations do not generate more resources seem too restricting. specially with how many hostiles around. i went to two places without being able to loot them because of bandits and all i got is 2 knives [weapon-wise]

tips regarding this?
The doc should fix you up if you didn't steal from him (I was never pressed for meds - this is an assumption).
Breaking private containers also aggros guards.
The guards in the hospital tell you not to run and disturb the patients, maybe that pissed them off last time? (another assumption).

To grow veggies you need an upgraded garden , fertilizer, 10 (!) water (1 filter costs 3 components and nets you 4 water, thats an additional 7,5 cost here). You can't cook veggies, so cooked meat always fills you up more than veggies.
The rat trap produces meat not veggies and if you put in one meat you get 2 back, so basically you get one free. Everytime. For each trap.
Sure it might be a little unpredictable and ofc you want both, but i say go for the traps first.

Regarding your enemy problem...
You know you can silent kill enemies if you sneak up to them right ? Get yourself an axe/crowbar and start killing ...or just sneak around and steal their stuff.
i can sneak kill?! time to get weapons i guess. but i think i screwed myself up too hard this playthrough, i'm REALLY tight on supplies. the most abundant resource that i have is the damn electric thingy. and i don't have the workshop for it yet.

im pressed for wood + components + food in general. so scavanging is really hard since i need to balance it out. like the best looting i have done netted me with 3 canned foods and some wood and components. and that was me stealing from the old couple in their house and i didn't even bleed them dry. i left them with a good portion of their house intact.

also just to be completely sure there are places where it says [sniper here] is that legit? im tempted to walk there just to test it XD

i dont have a heater too, so i got 2 sick people sadly with one being the severely injured fellow. i gave children food and meds so im out of these. i hope they'll stop coming back... seriously i can't say no to kids T_T i know its a game but.... the lines... damnit game!

also is it just me or is bartering kind of useless? you cant seem to get an advantageous trade. its always weighed against you from my experience.

Well not entirely sneak kill (aka totally noiseless splinter cell takedown) but if you wield an axe for example you can one hit kill enemies from the back (the icon turns into a yellow backstab symbol if you're close enough).

Regarding the "sniper" depending on the area the flavortext never lies. If it said thugs you get thugs, soldiers likewise , sniper ...jep might happen ;)
If you mean the scribbles on some of the walls nope thats just background graffity.

For your next playtrough you could try this

DON'T READ IF YOU WANT TO FIGURE IT OUT YOURSELF !

- Loot your home completly during the first day/clear all rubble (leave the closed containers for now and save the lockpicks) .
- Build 2 beds, an iron workshop and a crowbar, break open the containers
- focus on scavenging materials to get an advanced iron workshop ASAP (you will get around 3 weapon parts during your first scavenge run get the other 2 from the first trader), build an axe.
use your axe to destroy all useless furniture in your hideout to get some wood. Leaves you with more backpack space during your early runs ...you dont have to focus on wood and can instead get components and food.
And bartering well.... it makes sense ...the trader braves all the dangers to come to you .... you should mostly use him to get building materials like components and some wood ...

And if the whole map is clear of components (the only res i had a constant lack of) the trader might suddenly be "advantageous".

Personally i was always selling him meds/weapons/moonshine for building materials or rare components.

Btw wait till your guys are very hungry ( 2days) before you eat ... saves quite a lot of food
you sir are a walking manual. kudos to you. i actually waited 2 days for one guy [by mistake] and then fed him but it made him 'hungry' so im not sure if thats okay. is there a way to go from 'very hungry' to 'not hungry' ?
Surely you will only save 1 extra day of food cos every day after that they will be very hungry again?
