Will this game make me cry and/or feel terrible? And would you people recommend it?
I took a look at this game and it definitely seems interesting. I've actually always wanted to play a war game where you're not a soldier, but rather a civilian. Given the subject matter that this game is dealing with, should I expect feels?

I've only played a few hours as of this post, but I can safely say yes. Your actions have consequences, and many tough moral questions come up during gameplay. You sometimes are forced to choose between helping someone else, or keeping your group alive. If you have the option to help someone else, and you fail to help them, it can be fatal for them. On the other hand, helping someone else means you might not have those supplies on hand when needed. You probably can't save everyone; that's the harsh reality of it. You might even resort to raiding from other survivors, with all the consequnces that can imply...

I think "heart wrenching" is a fair descriptor to use here, and I think that's a good thing. You can get VERY attached to your survivors, and you may find yourself wondering just how far you'll go to keep them alive. It might make you feel terrible...hell, it probably will. I'll leave it up to you to decide whether that's an experience you'll be comfortable with.

There's none of that DayZ killing because it's fun bullcrap. Just remember that everything you see in the game is heavily inspired by real life. If you approach it from that angle, then the game will at the very least make you think.

Increadably imersive. There is no scripted cuttscenes, no press x to not die events. You are completely responsible for every action, and by every action I mean every action. From every meal. Every Bandage. Every scrap of wood. Equily pressious. If you are looking for a michle bay fps with auto aim and 3 second hp thumb sucking renewal this isn't it. This is a logic and desision making game.

Definitely expect a lot more "feels" than in many AAA blockbuster war-themed games out there. It's amazing how slick design and simple but powerful art direction can make you care about what you experience on the screen.

This was my exact question, glad someone asked. The game looks fantastic, and peoples reviews had some interesting things to say about it. I'm on the verge of buying it, but whilst I can 'enjoy' good drama that might be upsetting, as far as that is possible, if it's really oppressive throughout then it might be a bit too depressing for me. Doesn't make it a bad game, it just means that the experience of playing it might weigh me down a little too much.

What do people think?

Is it in the same vein as other games where you will make tough decisions, bad things will happen as a part of those decisions/playing the game, but you're able to still play the game *as a game* (examples are few and far between but I'm thinking games like 'Papers Please') - or is it just more upsetting/heavy than playable? (Shelter, Limbo, etc are sort of like this for me. Good games, but quite oppressive and hard to spend time with).
