Why is it still stealing?
So I killed all bandtis in an area, and ofc looted their base. However why are my people still getting sad and say things like "We left them with so little. I wonder if they will survive?" NO YOU BUMBASS! THEY ARE ALREADY DEAD!! Shouldn't the "stealing" not be counted as stealing? when you killed everyone in the location?

It especially makes no sense when my characters would normally get a morale boost from killing 'bad' people (and freeing hostages in certain places), but it's usually instantly undone because I stole from them. It really made my head hurt the first couple times I encountered it.

It's not a 'good' fix, but now when I clear a place out, I also consolidate all the loot into one pile that was originally dropped from my pack. It takes almost all night and multiple trips around the area; but that way all the possible sadness from killing and stealing will be taken care of that night. Then I just stop back on another night and grab what I need from the cache.

So it wasn't only me that figured that one out. I just place it in a pile close to where you enter so I don't have to do all that running.

Oh, it happens for bandits in your game?

I've been stealing ♥♥♥♥ from the brothel after killing all of them for many times, and I haven't got the complaints from the characters. Are you sure they're bandits? Maybe they're like, armed peaceful civilians.

Yeah, after every single bandit. Its really annoying.

It's really annoying when this happens, it breaks the immersion for me.

Because you didn't kill all of them.. the rest of them are scouting your building

I just noticed this too. After a longer downtime I started a new game to test Patch 1.3, and after I defeated the bandits at the church who attacked me on sight and talked about shooting down the pastor before I took some of their things. And now I got a sad, sad Boris. This just doesn't add up. I really like the changes they made with 1.3, but this is a let down.

Edit: the same just happened again. Roman managed to free the hostage in the hotel and get rid of these sadistic psychos (evidence is there more than enough) and took some of their food on his way out. And everyone talks about stealing from innocent people...

Maybe there should be some trigger that removes the "private property" condition on containers when you collect certain clues (i.e. finding the maimed bodies and the hostage in the hotel, hearing the guys in the warehouse talking about raiding humanitary aid convoys, finding the ID cards and freeing the sex slaves in the brothel etc.)

Sorry for triple posting. Now I got the post-stealing grief after visiting the church although I took care of not touching anything market as private property. There must be something wrong with this mechanic since the last patch.

Np on the triple post. I do agree, something got to be wrong with the system after the patch. I never had this problem before the patch.

Yeah, from before I could steal from dead people and no morale decrease, but in the new patch. Whenever I loot a place that I killed Bandits in and there are none left, they are all like, "Man, I feel bad because we stole, but it was us or them." It's not stealing if they are dead because no one else is gonna use any of it, so might as well give it some use. Also, I think Belharkar has a great idea of after when you collect all the evidence in the area, completing certain events, but I think after all the people who occupy the place are gone(Murder, freeing, etc.) then all the private property conditions should be removed.
Stuurminator Jun 8, 2015 @ 10:36pm
This happens in buildings that have alternate, "non-evil" versions. So, it affects the hotel (because some versions of the hotel have innocent inhabitants that you wouldn't feel good stealing from), but not the brothel (which is always filled with evil people).

This means you shouldn't steal from the church, hotel, or that one house with the deserters, even if they're full of bad guys. However, the warehouse, construction yard, brothel, army base, and any other "bad guy" location should be fair game.

This is stupid... I got Marko killing all the bad guy at brothel. Then I sent Bruno there, like 10 day after (not anymore soul there from a long time), just to check if I didn't missed cool stuff there. Some items on a fridge and the cupboard... marked as "private property"...

Yeah, sure, private property from a group of dead people. *first facepalm*

Nevermind, I took everything that was still remaining there, even cutting every piece of furniture to wood.

Bruno came back home.... boom ! he's sad... (wtf ?!)
Direct complaining "omg, how they're gonna survive with so few item I left there..."
*second epic facepalm*

And then, since it is Bruno, not Marko or another sissy, BRUNO, the guy of the team who always don't give a single f*ck of helping random people and just chill when one of the other killed a guy...
Bruno...Bruno, the guy who don't give much ♥♥♥♥ of other people's life...getting sad from "stealing" people completely dead from 10 days ago. So ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dead, their corpse aren't even there anymore.

Woohoo ! F*ck logic. Our heros are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idiots clapping their hands when killing bad boys but become crybaby when we take stuff of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dead people... evil people furthermore...

NOT...A SINGLE... SENSE...

The characters are emo sociopath, clearly.

It needs some modifcations to its morale system. Regarding the Killing of Bandits & stealing from people who try to kill your characters. I hope they update it alittle bit and fix these issues.
