No cannibalism option?
Kind of surprised there is no cannibalism option in the game, as this is a common part of real life survivalist situations. In 1972, the survivors of an Uruguayan Air Force jet crash survived for more then two months stranded on top of the Andes mountain range eating almost nothing but the dead bodies of people who had died in the crash.

During the 1940s seige of Lenningrad, there were many incidents of cannibalism as well.

Now this isn't a feature the creators had to go overboard with, but it just would be nice if you could get meat from people you kill, as well as some extra meat when you successfully defeat raids on your shelter. It should be an option, and the food would keep you fed, but decrease your morale (no one likes eathing people, even if they were raiders)

Anyone agree?

Well historically in this stiuation whether we like it or not it happens.

Why are people obsessed with this idea? There is plenty of food knocking around to survive on, as is demonstrated by the fact we survive.

Do you really think the moment something bad happens to a city everyone walks out and says 'Looks like the milk man is late again, better murder and eat my grandmother.'

In both examples you mention they literally had nothing left to eat. In Leningrad there were no supplies coming in, and I imagine everything had been looted or destroyed. Maybe if this game was set 5 years into a siege, then we could expect it.

Plus I believe that it's even hinted at that maybe the meat you buy from the market is from a strange source as their are no animals left in the city.

I would love to see cannibalism added to the game as well, but I think it'd probably have to have a large negative effect for all of your characters. Something like, most of them becoming depressed afterwards, and if not depressed, sad.

Of course not. It's a last resort. But it does happen. I has happened in real life, when people reached their most desperate moments, so it should be an option in the game.

Also, it doesn't have to be people who are still alive or family members. The 1972 Plane crash victims I described survived by feasting on bodies of people who died in the crash. They didn't murder anyone.

The Seige of Lenningrade didn't last 5 years, it lasted 900 days. Even the Siege of Sarajevo, which this game is based on, didn't last 5 years.

And that's a situation you can face in this game. So cannibalism should be an option when that happens.

I agree. It should have a negative effect, like a decrease in morale.

I agree that the option should be given to the player whether or not to feast upon the flesh of thy fallen enemies or comrades, but it should be an option that is useable when there is absolutely no food left and the people are on the second or third day of "Very Hungry" (or whatever comes after that because I've never let my people get beyond that). Also they should create like a craftable campfire or something because I can't realistically picture someone taking a severed arm of a dead person and putting it in the oven at 400 degrees for an hour, instead I picture cooking a piece of butt fat on a stick like you roast marshmallows.

But it's not the situation we face in this game. There's plenty of food left around and traders selling more.

I disagree. Granted I just started playing, but I'm having a hard time finding enough food.

Now it could just be because i'm new and I currently suck at the game. But still, this should be an option for people in this situation.

Nor could I, but it has happened in worse conditions then this. Remember that plane crash I cited? For two months, the survivors lived on the dead bodies of the people who died in the crash, and in nearly all cases, they had to eat the flesh raw (They were stranded on top of a mountain and had a limited supply of flammable materials)

A hard time? Or have you gone nearly two weeks without food?
Ohio9 Mar 31, 2015 @ 5:05pm
No I've only completed the first week, but I have ran out of food, and I'm having a hard time finding more.

At this point I wouldn't be murdering people to eat them, but I'd like the option to do it for raiders I kill.

depends on how bad you wanted you corn flakes

Just a tip: build the rat trap if you can't find food. It's guaranteed meat every five days. Two if you've Anton.

The only reason the Uruguayan soccer team resorted to cannibalism is that there was NO other food. The plane had crashed in a desolate, snow filled valley high in the Andres, where plants didn't grow. In Pogoren, you have alternatives.

Also, in terms of real life, a game that condoned cannibalism would most likely be banned in some countries,

the game lasts 45 days... and you're kind of surprised there is no cannabalism? where do you people come from?

Yeah, and I'm talking about if you face the same situation: You run out of food and your characters are starving to death.

To be honest we don't start at the beginning of the war. We start 45 days before it ends. Still, the traders and buildings still have food in them, no need for cannabalism.
