Marko is a fun but tough scenario. I build a metal workshop, shovel and crowbar on day one. I only loot wood what I need to make those three items the rest I leave in their cabinets/piles. Make sure to open all cabinets/doors and remove all rubble.

Bring your shovel and crowbar scavenging (even ruined flats where you dont need them) and then leave them until you decide to go to a new area (make this decision a day in advance so you can retrieve them).

Decide what you want/need to build for the next day and collect only the materials needed. This prevents theft from being raided as you will not be home at night until you get a friend or until you get your entire shelter boarded up and have the reinforced door.

Each night take valuables with you, I like to use my first safe scavenging location for my stockpile of goodies. Once you know Franko's schedule you can bring back the trade items the night before. He is typically ever third day from his last visit. I believe he shows on day 3-6-9 but lately hes been a bit more random in my other playthroughs.

Marko will get sad and depressed so try to take advantage of any positive status events.

My build order typically is, metal workshop-shovel-crowbar-bed-stove-upgrade stove-upgrade workshop-rainwater collector-filter(make one a day if possible -rat trap.
You can board up and reinforce the door if you want but since you won't be staying home unless you have another survivor join you it isn't as important as building other things. I would avoid unnecessary killing or thieving as you don't want to put Marko into a negative status. One exception is the shelled school with homeless people. You shouldn't take a hit for stealing the veggies in the grated room.

Hope you have better luck on your next run.

Don’t add any items in your shelter to your inventory till you’re going to use it. These items cannot be stolen, and make a list of said items.

Print a construction list, and preplan what you want to build every day. Almost every item can be built in one run of materials.
*I didn’t build my bed or any tools till day 2, so as to not use any of the materials in the shelter.*

For big build items try to time it with the trader, so as to not use your shelter materials.

Don’t store anything in your shelter, store it offsite. Particularly at the beginning site as it most likely doesn’t close due to snow.

Cook multiple meals at once. Food cannot be stolen. *I usually had 4-8 meals on the stove at one time.*

Don’t listen to anyone asking for help. Since you’re alone, you can’t leave the shelter to help anyone, so ignore them. This way Marko won’t get dinged with sadness.

There's also a "trick" you can use. I'll slap spoiler text just in case.

You can store your wood and components (anything actually) by starting "making process" of let's say 20 fuel on workbench and then leaving it "idle" (don't click "X"). That way your components (20 wood in this case) are safe and sound in there and looters can't steal them.

If you're on your own, you can't go and help people who come to the door - the option isn't available. Luckily this has no additional effect on morale.

I wouldn't bother boarding up the shelter at all, you can save the wood for other things. I recommend building only one thing per day (things like the Level 2 Metal Workshop require more stuff than you can carry, so take home trade items whenever you next expect Franko and trade for the components and wood you need).

Sadness is your greatest enemy after following all those tips above.
For this reason, do not open the door for people who are asking for help.

You can tell (roughly) what people want before you talk to them from your past experience.

The exception is, if you know you can help them beforehand.
For example the children want firstly medicine and then canned food.

Also, moonshine is a godsend if Marko is about to go severely depressed. Use it only after you have done all your chores for the day, and by the next day he'll be feeling better about life. Not sure if it glitched there, but I was able to loot that night while Marko should have been drunk still without any ill effects.

It isn't a glitch. Marko is one of the survivors (possibly the only one but I am not sure) who can't sleep while drunk but sobers up by the end of the day. He will still be tired though so keep that in mind as the next day when he returns he will be very tired and need to sleep the whole day to remove the tired status or half a day if you don't mind keeping him in the very tired/tired spiral.

I just made it :D First try as Marco alone and made it without reading this tips form this topic :P
Not so hard if u first build up whole defense and then start doing other staff

39 days without stealing anthing from elders, hospital and church.

Look forward to next updates.

To pokazauję że można zrobić dobrą gre, wydać ja w normalnej cenie i nie naciągać ludzi dalej na pseudo płatne DLC :) :madelf:

I'm working on this scenario now, and am surprised that by day 11 no one else has turned up to help me. For those of you who have completed this runthrough: when did someone else appear?

I'm using EN16M471C's strategy quite a bit, and trying to use up everything I can't carry for the night so it doesn't get stolen. It's going okay so far but the outbreak of crime just started!

I have had a survivor show up on day 18 and also have had runs where no survivor ever comes.

Same for me.

Make a radio and as soon as you get back from scavenging turn it on. I've never had a problem with sadness or depression that way (due to raids). Also don't be afraid to give him extra meals to make him "well fed".

Marko alone is SUPER easy! Only take what you need! If you have food, medicine, tools..at your shelter take them scavenging with you. While scavenging only take home what you are 100% going to use.

Open up all scavenging places by going to new locations each night. Again taking only what you need home. Rest during the day.

Just keep doing this until you get at least one person with Marko. If it is a person who is weak like Cveta or Emilia just keep acting like you are solo. Until you get a 2nd to stand guard.

I was getting robbed clean every day. So I took my stuff with me everytime I went scavenging.. dropped the stash at "abandoned building" and it was safe there.. still the bandits came but didn't take anything (there was nothing to take), yet Marko was getting sad and depressed, and eventually broken .. cried all day long and then killed himself on day 19.. wtf!? why is he such a ♥♥♥♥♥?

Cure for sadness is prevention, so to not kill anyone. Also, find or buy some booze and drink it Voila !!! no more sadness / depression. Keeping him well fed helps too..
