It could be just from the stealing. You are free to take anything that is marked with an open hand, but anything that is marked with the grab-hand icon and says private property when you open it will be considered stealing.
I actually believe that that one is a bug, because the owner is dead, so you aren't stealing from anyone. However, the other version of that location has it belonging to a couple of civilians and I think that has marked the lot incorrectly for the other scenario. This could also be affecting the killing part, but I have never killed them without stealing from there, so I can't be sure.
IIRC, the devs are aware of it, so hopefully it will get fixed.
Just saw this now and was afraid that my characters would get even more depressed and leave or die....
I went to the brothel and just now, I got Pavle killed....They were all depressed, especially Marko... I sent in Marko to avenge Pavle and killed all 5 bandits and freed two prisoners (didn't even know they were there)... After that, they all seemed content :D
Think it may have been freeing the prisoners which made them content.
Do you know if our characters will feel content if we avenged someone? I read all their diaries.. They are all angry and sad at pavle's death.. Katia wanted to avenge Pavle's death and Marco kept on walking around saying they killed Pavle like a dog....
I tried to test it and see if it works, but because I freed the prisoners by accident, i don't think the test worked....
Yeah, then I think that is a bug, because the loot is marked as personal property, when it isn't.
FYI: If you get Emilia in your group, she can steal without it affecting anyone's mood.
I don't think you get bonuses to mood for revenge killing (I have not specifically tested that though). Thugs and soldier NPC's can be killed without issues, though, and killing certain ones can boost mood. Freeing the prisoners definitely gives a mood boost, so that was a good one to do after the stealing.
Yes and no this is a bug.
Why no?: Some people really don't like killing in general. Pavle, Marko, Boris for example, I think are people that don't like killing, and even if it's not going to make them sad/depressed off one kill, they complain. Keep doing it, they get sad, it happens. Use people that don't seem to give a crap. Marko, Katia, Zlata and Pavle, are not really 'killers', unless you need to do this/feel obligated to, this is not the team to just go through groups of people over and over again. That being said....
Why yes?: If you go into the write my own story scenario editor, you'll find that each place has 1-3 possible 'variants' it can. If a place has a 'safe' variant (bums/civilians/old people/etc), then obviously anything with the closed hand reaching down (private property), would count this as stealing if you took from here, right? and on the flip side, if a place has bandits, then private property doesn't matter, cuz bad people right? Well, if a place has multiple variants, and one of them is 'safe' and another is 'bad', and you get the bad, the bug is it still treats private property as though you are taking from the 'safe' variant. Therefore, the only places safe to steal goods from, that are private property without damaging your people's moods, are places with only one 'variant', that being bandits/thugs/bad people. Examples of this, are the Brothel and the Warehouse, Both of those places, only have one possibilty, and it's bandits/thugs, therefore private property DOES NOT matter, you're stealing from bad people. Places like the Ruined Villa, have a variant of a living couple alive in there, and even though you got bandits that kidnap people, when you took from the private property, the game treated you as if you were stealing from civilian couple.
If you don't know the variants of places go look. If you don't want to look, then don't take from private property until bug is fixed, or face the consequences of the game thinking you're stealing from innocent people.
There is a version of the Ruined Villa that has a normal family struggling to get by, so the game got confused and acted as if your characters were stealing from them, not the kidnappers.
Maps with no "innocent" variant will not produce this bug.
Ah... I see, but it's sooo damn tempting... all that work killing bandits and I can't get the loot.. thanks anyway :)
