After reading this post, have to wonder how you managed to find your way here to post that. Did someone assist you?
Radio warns you for :
1 - Danger zones
2 - Prices for some elements
3 - Zones available in the city
4 - Weather
5 - General news fronm the front.
6 - Morale (that i guess)
To bad it doesn't have presets.
You'll see the winter screen and temperature plummet within a day when the radio tells you it might get cold (and a few times it didn't). I hear about blockades due to fighting on the radio only as they're happening. Trade prices are nice to know about, but then again, the slight bump from coffee and cigs rarely affects what I actually bring back to the shelter anyway (unless I have addicts in my group).
It's great flavor that adds to the narrative and immersion of the game, but most of the time, the radio only tells me about stuff when it's too late to do anything about it.
I build radio last now; for the amount of precious rare electrical parts, the vegetable garden and reinforced door are far more important to have up and running ASAP.
