Any Hardcore mods ?
The base game seems to be getting easier every patch. It's like running a 5 star hotel for manic depressives.

But, mostly I dont get it because it isn't funny.

It's possible that you didn't get the joke because there was no joke. An Analogy, is what you would call that.

Since everyone is feeling so vulnerable today, I think we should stick to my actual question.

I'd appreciate any recommendations for a hardcore mod, if there is any.

All mods I've seen make the game actually easier, so I'm not sure if there is anything for you there. You can try to create your own scenario and set everything to be as hard as it can, like long severe winter that comes early in the game, intensity of conflict - high. Choose 4 of the worst characters as your starting party and the hardest variations of the scavenge locations.

If you can't find one, make your own! That's the fun of the mod tools! :D

I tried creating a custom scenario with max conflict, but it ended up making the playthrough easier. The problem I found with that system is there were still only a handful of hostile encounters, the rest were just opportunities to rob and kill innocent people.

I think I'll follow your advice and try my hand at modding the game. Perhaps I'll be the proud author of the first Hardcore mod.

Cheers!

If you do that link it here, I'll gladly try it :)
And yes, it's true that if you are experienced in the in game combat system "hard" locations become loot paradise. Military outpost is a good example, after you "clean" that location you have enough ammo to defend your shelter until the end of the war without any chance of losing something and you have assault rifles which are probably the bast trading unit along with the meds.

EDIT: Also, if you have XboxOne or PS4 you can try TWoM: The Little Ones, I'm not sure if it's harder then the vanilla version but it surely seems like it. As far as I know, the kids are not able to scavenge during the night and they are mostly a liability in the shelter (which is a good thing for the game).

That sounds interesting. Unlike real life, if the kids annoy me I can always starve them to death. *blows dust off PS4*

Cheers!

LOL yeah, spend three days with me when im off my lithium and you will realize how off your comment is.

Anyways, did you try playing as one char only (refusing new members when they come knocking) with the war lasting 80 days with an early, long harsh winter and war at max intensity?

That sounds like a good idea, it'll be absolute chaos! Keeping the heat up, filtering water, moonshine, alcohol, cages for meat, making your tools, etc.
That sounds like a challange...which i think i may attempt.

Op is right though, it was rather easy. the last 20 days i just didn't scavange anymore, all my enemies were dead and i had enough resources to keep my characters well fed. I even laughed at one point because it felt like i was playing sims.

Solo gameplay is actually easier because the game mechanics are flawed. When soloing you cannot get sick and cannot get hurt during raids because you are out there scavanging all the time. You don't have to care about fuel and don't have to care about making your shelter maxed out. You just take basic survival stuff with you every night and you are golden. You also have much less food consumption because you don't have to feed anyone else. Marko's scenario is stupidly easy because of this. I stayed well-fed all the time.

Wow, that's a lot of crying

So two bad characters is the hard mode, then?

it kinda sounds like you're trying to brag that you are really good at the game. Like "
I tried creating a custom scenario with max conflict, but it ended up making the playthrough easier." that makes no sense at all.

Dunno if hard mode but definitely harder than solo (provided you care about lives of your characters).
