can you "win"?
i''ve been aware of this game since it launched and realize it's immensely popular. they have a board game of it too. . .
never played it.
it looks like the game is randomized(?) like who you have and what happens and what you find are all randomized.

i get it that it's about refugees surviving in a war torn city and you are NOT gonna level up and become a super soldier singlehandedly destroy the enemy general or something.

my question, is there a "win" state, like does it have a complete narrative story that plays out to a conclusion were you get to a point where the game ends and gives you a rating and you sorta "won", or is it just like a "high score" thing where you try to survive as long as possible and then on the next run you try to beat that score?

Yes, you can survive the War after several days.
There are also some story DLCs which contain their different endings.

The point of the game is that in war, everyone loses- Yes, you (or some of your characters) can survive the war- but the point is that war is brutal and random- you can only try and keep everyone warm, not get sick, and not starve- but even when you survive a run- the experience is brutal and gives you pause to think how inhumane the concept of war is. It is a refreshingly honest look at what people are capable of doing to survive.

by "win", i meant "suviving" until the game reaches a conclusion.
i wasn't sure if it was a "survive as long as you can , until you inevitably die" thing, like some of the other survival games out there that just go on forever until you lose.

It's a slow consuming game that will keeps trowing at you with dilemmas as you slowly progress through the day. You'll need to make decision and often then not these decisions will have unexpected consequence.
There isn't much of a high score as you'll need to reach the end of the war to come to a conclusion of the game.
As in a real war the game asks you - how many days will you survive in this war?

PS: DLCs add more stories and scenarios to the war and are more added content to play.

if you finally decide to purchase this game, and play it for some time, do tell us whether you liked it or not, or if it met your expectations at all.
